Three separate fenced off areas- no specific distinction between large and small dog areas, but one of the smaller areas had agility equipment. The other two spaces were pretty open with the largest having a shelter with tables. Overall very clean, but there were no bags. Not a huge deal for us since we always bring our own, however it could be an issue if people don’t!

We stopped for lunch and had a great time. Poppy got to socialize and enjoy her off leash time. I see the reviews say it's dirty but it was very clean when we were there. We always have our own bags so I can't address the 'no bag' complaints.

We’re always looking for dog parks for our pups while we’re driving cross country. great dog park with 3 different areas. close to I-80 and only 2 miles from the Tesla Supercharger
- DebbieAug 16, 2022Beautiful green grass
Very nice stop on our cross-country road trip. Our brittany enjoyed the space, which wasn't super large but had poop bags, water, shade, a bench, and was very clean. Yay Laramie!!

This park set the bar high for my first dog stop on a road trip from WY to MA. Super convenient location, not far from I-80. Near a beautiful river, which my dog would've loved to jump in during a different time of year. Nice sized park, with friendly people and dogs. Highly recommend!

Passing through Laramie and our dogs loved this clean, grassy, shady dog park with lots of room to run. Multiple entrances too. Give a big ruff ruff!
- CaioJul 8, 2021Awesome dog park!
Visited this park while traveling through Laramie with my pup. The park is really nice with well maintained grass, trees for shade, separate areas for larger and smaller dogs. Bring your own water as the fountain is not working. Lots of room for your pup to rub and burn some energy!

Stopped by on our travels through Wyoming. Great little place for our dogs to run off some energy. Lots of shade.

We are new to the area and have been so pleased with this park! shade, places for dog parents to relax, picnic table, and plenty of shade and soft grass. we appreciate the security, cleanliness, and peaceful surroundings.

Really nice park near the Laramie Greenbelt. Well maintained area with good grass, bags, and usually lots of friendly dogs.
- SteveSep 11, 2018Odd design, sketchy maintenance
Nice that the city has this small park, but the design is poorly thought out and the maintenance is sketchy. No poop bags in the containers, and many owners don't seem to bring their own. Sign saying "closed in May" is still up in September. My dog got nasty diarrhea after drinking out of the communal water dish. Nonsensically located 100 yards from parking lot, despite unused/unusable space in-between lot and existing fenced area. The designer must have hated right angles, as the fencing zigs and zags like a drunken sailor. Interior mature hardwood trees have big fencing around them (never seen that before).
- JamieJun 1, 2018pretty good park
The grass and trees are nice. It is much larger than the other park in town. Overall, enjoyable. But, the city does not maintain it well-the poop bags are only refilled about once every couple of months, and no one with the parks department ever picks up poop. I also have seen at least 50% of the people here watch their dogs poop then not pick it up. It gets nasty. There is so much poop around the fence that sometimes I wonder why we go, but my dog gets the best running in here.
Also, it seems the city closes it once a year. They put signs up everywhere saying closed the month of may, but now may is over and it is still closed for some reason.
Some days the dogs here are nice and get along with my dogs. However, there are a lot of people that come here that don't understand they are supposed to control their dog. Younger over-excited dogs often won't leave my dogs alone, and the owners do nothing, so we end up having to leave. There are also some people with overly aggressive, not biting but way too aggressive, dogs who don't keep them away. One example is a family with 2 pitbulls who wouldn't leave my little dog alone, literally scaring the pee out of her. They never tried to control their dogs so we had to leave.
Along with the not controlling their dogs, many people do not bring leashes even though it is required, so if their dog attacks yours, good luck. I thinks maybe this is some kind of small town mentality, that they don't need to carry leashes or bring poop bags.

A friend and I were traveling in July of 2015 & stopped in Laramie. We had 3 dogs with us. A local told us about Optimist Park. We went and the dogs had a blast and WORE THEMSELVES OUT!! There was a large leash free area for large dogs and another for puppies and small dogs. Our Lab LOVED playing in the creek. The restrooms were port-a-potties, but clean. There were some trails, but how extensive, I don't know. Most of the time, the dogs just wanted to play with the other dogs at the park…and there were 4 others…ALL WELL BEHAVED I might add!!!
