My boyfriend and I took our dog Milo here over the weekend and had a beautiful day. Milo loved exploring the trail and we enjoyed the breathtaking views of Newport. Highly recommend bringing your dog here!

I walked this with my dog and everyone we encountered didn’t seem to mind dogs being on the path. It was great exercise with spectacular views. There are no water stations so be sure to bring your own. I would definitely recommend this activity!

The Cliff Walk is one of my favorite places in Newport. On slower days you can take your well-behaved pup for an off-leash stroll without worrying about upsetting anyone. Everyone we passed on the walk was super friendly and many people stopped to greet and pet our dogs. There is a short portion of the walk that you have to step over some large gaps since you’ll be traversing large boulders, so some uncoordinated dogs may trip a bit. You can see surfers surfing the waves on most days. It’s really beautiful!!!
- SamanthaJun. 24, 2019Great walk
Our girls (both small dogs) had a great time on the walk. Definitely make sure to bring enough water - particularly if it turns out to be a hot day. They had a great time trotting along, and we completed the entire length of the walk. Something to keep in mind: even though the walk itself is dog friendly, the transit back to the beginning is not, so we needed to split up, one getting the car and one staying with the girls. Something to keep in mind!

Amazing walk near the water with spectacular home viewing! We could only get as far as the breakers due to the rough terrain, but it was a wonderful walk!
- CaroleApr. 29, 2018Great walk for everybody
We enjoyed the walk very much and so did our bernese mountain dog. There is a short rocky part that a large dog can handle and small dogs can be held in arms. Count 1h30 return from Forty Steps to Sheep Point

This is a concrete trail along the outer harbor of Newport, Rhode Island. It's dog friendly and not too busy. Go to the Narragansett Ave street parking. Walking south is beautiful views. It can be a bit narrow if you have a dog and you're walking at a busy time.
- LanceMore than a year agoTerrific views
Dogs are not allowed at Easton's beach, but they are permitted at the "Cliff Walk"!!.... My 14 year old dog and I walked approx. 1 miles.. Then, turned around. During the walk, we enjoyed a beautiful view of the water and some of the mansions.. **Only a few benches and no water fountains.. : Parking at meters on Memorial Blvd... An easy and picturesque activity...
