- NicholeSep 15, 2024Great Day in Wildwood.
My husband, dog, and I all visited Wildwood for the first time this past weekend and had a wonderful time! We took Woodson to the dog park, beach, and to PigDogs for dinner. The dog park & beach were wonderful! The park was well maintained and had so many fun obstacles for the pups to play on. For the most part people followed the rules and kept the small dogs, who could get hurt playing with the larger dogs, separated amongst the two areas. There was one very reactive dog who probably shouldn’t have been off leash but the owner did end up removing him rather fast when he jumped up on me several times leaving scratches and bruises…. Just glad it was me he hurt and not my husband or Woodson. The beach was also great and very spacious. Enough room for everyone to sit and not be on top of one another with our pups. I don’t know what it’s like in season but dogs were pretty much all over the beach when we went. Most people kept them on leashes down at the water and the ones who weren’t were well trained and exercising in the water. We had a great time!

Was very clean and being a dog beach, all dogs were friendly and well behaved. People were very friendly as well. Will definitely go back.
- AnnemarieFeb 28, 2024Love it!
My dog loves running around in the sand and playing with the other dogs! Bonus for the objects they can climb/jump on too!!
- ArteshaJan 31, 2024On the beach
Love the layout of the dog beach, lots of obstacles and the cutest biggest fire hydrant I've ever seen lol.
- SueAug 20, 2023Nice!
Clean, fresh water faucet, shade, sand dunes to run up and down. The sand is super fine and was hard to wash off.
- MichaelAug 7, 2023doggie heaven for Molly
This is my dogs favorite dog park- she can run, play and relax with water or a shade area. she likes it so much that she is usually too tired to even walk down to the dog beach. Just love it there.
- JackieJun 18, 2023Best EVER!
This is hands down the best dog park/beach ever for the dogs. Drove 1.5 hours and it was well worth it! My two pups had a blast! Bonus for pet parents was that there was a bathroom on the boardwalk directly in front of the fenced area. Coming back for sure!
- DottySep 26, 2022Awesome place!

- BryanJun 30, 2022Awesome setup and super convenient
We are Delaware Beach loyalists but came here just for this dog park. Totally worth it. The dog park is nice and spacious and the dog beach itself had a ton of room and was quite clean. A bit of a walk from parking but really great option to bring dogs on vacation. Thanks wildwood
- AnnaJun 17, 2022Jersey Shore Must!
What a great park with wonderful facilities, great views, shade for hot doggos, and sweet pup parents!
- SuzanneApr 17, 2022The Best!!@
By far!! The best dog park! Our hound mix and us had a great time!!!
- CrystalApr 16, 2022Our pup loved it!
There is plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. It is a great way for dogs to burn off energy and make new friends.
- C.Jun 28, 2021Humans and canines had the best time!
We had so much fun last year we planned an entire vacation around the dog beach. Was clean and friendly. A bit overstimulating for our puppy - between her humans boogie boarding, all the other dogs playing, and people walking past our blanket, there was a lot going on. But I highly recommend it!
- BillMay 8, 2021great time
Brought our 2 dogs to the beach and dog park. All of the dogs in the park were friendly and playful although our puppy was a bit overwhelmed with the number of dogs there.
- MariaAug 24, 2020Super Dog Friendly
Wildwood kept coming up as a dog friendly beach destination and the beaches closer to home all have restrictions during the summer season so we decided to give it a try. I didn't love that you have to enter the beach through the passageway "under the boardwalk". In fact, the day we arrived, it rained so much there were giant puddles everywhere. We decided to do a quick up and over but complied every other time when the puddles dried up. It felt like a mile walk out to the water but it was flat and very easy to use our wagon. The doggos had fun in the dog park and it was nice to see all the families out with fido on the beach. Public restrooms were also on the same block up on the boardwalk. I would definitely recommend you give Wildwood a try.
- JessicaJul 19, 2020Fun Day
We had a great time with our 2 dogs, this is our 3rd time coming and we always have a good time..this was our first time coming during peak season but we had no problems and always enjoy coming with our dogs
- ErinJul 6, 2020Love This Place
absolutely love being able to bring the dog in the beach. the dog park is great too and there is even a dog friendly beach bar nearby. only drawback is the length of the beach from park to water on a hot day when the sand burns your feet or paws.
- AngieJun 25, 2020Great dog beach!
I miss the dog beaches in Florida .. Wildwood is the closest thing to them that allow the human to swim in the water with their dog(s), unlike a lot of other "dog beaches" up this way.
The entrance to the dog park and beach is on Maple Avenue -- Very important since dogs are prohibited on the boardwalk all year around. When I first visited Wildwood, it was confusing but now I know and always let people know that detail :)
- JacquelineSep 8, 2019Great Family Fun!
The dog park is off leash it’s clean and everyone we encountered were great! Went down to the water which is a hike (be warned) but watching the dogs play in the surf is so fun, our puppy wasn’t feeling it but enjoyed laying in the sand while his human siblings played in the water. It was nice and shallow so great for dogs and kids alike. As a bonus it was after Labor Day and we were able to visit the piers and had no issues bringing the dog along. I talked with a local who said he walked his dog along the boardwalk all the time even in high season but he had a smaller dog so not sure if that has anything to do with it. The water park was hosting a “puppy pool party” so there so there were dogs everywhere. Overall a great time!
- JenniferAug 14, 2018Excellent dog beach and dog run
We had the best experience at this dog run and dog friendly beach. There’s a section that’s “coned” off or designated for dogs and it was substantial. The day we went there were lots of dogs and they were all freely enjoying the sun and surf. On the beach itself emma (our dog) had to be leashed which she didn’t love but in the run she could be off leash. Either way she enjoyed being on the beach with the family and exploring a new area. Although all of the signs say that dogs aren’t allowed on the boardwalk, it’s almost impossible to reach the dog beach without going on to the boardwalk. We saw many owners with their dogs of all sizes on the boardwalk at all hours, so we weren’t worried. It seemed to be a vey dog friendly and family oriented area. We loved loved loved it!
- MadisonJul 30, 2018LOVED IT!
This dog park on the beach was super cute and Stark had a great time playing with other dogs! As a dog owner, I loved the fact that there were doggy bags available to clean up after the dogs and there was also water available for after a good play time. Super cute place!
- MatthewMore than a year agoa true dog beach.
You and your pup can swim here. There is a life guard We came on a cloudy overcast day in July it was us and about 5 other dogs. Dog had a blast. The ocean is not off leash but the dog park is. It’s on maple not popular st. Will definitely be coming back on a sunny day and writing a review. 7/6/18
- BrianMore than a year agoNot Bad Place for Dogs
The beach is wide and there is also a dog run, one for small dogs, and one for large dogs, where you can let your dog run around off leash. However, you are not supposed to let you dogs off leash on the beach or in the water, which kind of makes it not as great a place as it could be,
- JohnnyMore than a year agoGreat Dog Beach Finally
This is a great beach to go hang out at and bring your dog. It essentially looks like the rest of the beach except everyone has dogs, leashed, and either playing in the water or laying on the towels hanging out like the rest of us. Such a great idea to have this, and by the crowds it was definitely a hit with everyone with a dog.

Amazing. Dog and human friendly beach with shallows. Perfect for swimming w dog. They rent chairs etc. Sell some food. Just perfect.
- MichelleMore than a year agoQuestion..
Is this a good beach for humans to actually swim with their dogs? Often the dog beaches aren't as human friendly. Would like to know before we make the drive. Thank you in advance.
- CarolMore than a year agoAwesome!
Pleasant atmosphere. Other humans kept their pets close and under control. It's nice to be able to enjoy the beach with my best friend. Thank you Wildwood for a truly pet friendly beach. 6/30/16
- StephanieMore than a year agoGreat beach, great doggie fun!
We had a great time at the Wildwood dog beach with our border collie/lob mix puppy. Its a HUGE beach, probably half a mile from the boardwalk to the ocean. Plenty of room to spread out and run around with your pup. The water is fairly shallow so you can go pretty far out without having to swim. It was warm enough to get in the water on Memorial Day weekend! Dogs do have to be on a leash but there is a nice fenced area where they can run free and play with other dogs (water provided). You will meet lots of nice dog owners with all kinds of dogs on this beach! The safes on this part of the boardwalk were all dog friendly and they let us sit at the counter and eat with our dog and gave doggie treats and water. We got away with walking our dog on the boardwalk in the morning but in the evening they enforce the rules more. We walked our dog all along the beach in the evening though. There are also huts on the beach to rent chairs and umbrellas for the day. Overall, it was great and I would definitely come back!
- JackMore than a year agoGreat Family Fun
Thank you Wildwood for really making it a family beach. The beach was so nice that we could bring our puppy too. My mother is elderly so the walk from the board walk to the beach was too much. But you had that covered by a beach taxi. (No dog allowed in that) My children loves that they could play in the waves with their puppy in the summer. The beach was very clean. Before we left we went to the restaurant on the boardwalk and got food to go. The owners gave us a huge handful of doggie treats. We had the best time. Thank you Wildwood for even becoming better.
- CaseyMore than a year agoGreat Beach for Family and Pups!
We just got back from our 4 day vacation to Wildwood & Cape May, NJ.
We had researched quite a bit before deciding where to stay, as we brought our two dogs on vacation for the first time this year!
Wildwood dog beach was a fantastic option for us because it's a full block of beach that's open to dogs all day, every day - which is hard to find in August- prime vacation time! It's also free to the public. Our two had a blast. Our German Shorthair loved the water, while our Ridgeback loved soaking up the Rays.
The only difficult part for us was the length of the beach. We had to drive to the beach because we were about a 35 minute walk, and had quite a bit of equipment that we brought for the dogs (& our own) comfort: beach canopy, beach chairs, coolers full of water for all day playing and for lunch, towels, and of course sunscreen! If I had to guess, I would say the distance from the boardwalk to the water is at least 400 meters. That's a hike with all beach supplies in soft sand!
We brought a wagon- I would say if you pack like we do, which we would say is totally worth it- a beach cart or wagon is a great investment.
Overall, we had a BLAST... Our dogs made several friends, as most of the people that bring their dogs are responsible dog owners it seems.
Of course as with anywhere, there were a few wild cards who let their dogs run crazed down the beach "accidentally" because "they didn't know there were any other dogs there..."
And of course there are the ones who bark at every dog who walks by or is over zealous to meet everyone.
But as dog owners, we all know our own dog's likes and dislikes & can kind of tell who they will get along with and who to avoid. There are also a bunch of families with young children building sand castles, and enjoying their vacations, so if your dog is uncomfortable around toddlers or children, that is a friendly heads up! They are everywhere! ????
Overall, it was a fabulous option for us, and our pooches. They thoroughly enjoyed the sun, shade, waves, other doggies, and kiddos.
We Would definitely recommend going at least once. We will definitely be back!
- ChrisMore than a year agoBest Dog Beach on the East Coast
This beach is the absolute best. It is only a one block length of beach, but it is the best. Let me tell you why.
I've researched the dog beaches on the east coast, and all of them have limitations. They call themselves dog beaches, but some of them are only available to you and your dog during the off season - for instance, September 1 through May 1. Who wants to visit the beach during the off season? How does that help when you want to vacation with your dog in the summer time? It doesn't.
Likewise, some so-called dog beaches allow you to visit the beach with your Fido during the peak season, but then add hourly restrictions. For example, allowing you and your dog to be on the beach between the hours of 6 AM and 9 AM, or in the evening after 6 PM. Again, how does that help when you want to vacation with your dog in the summer time? It doesn't.
These so-called dog beaches with their restrictive policies fail to grasp what dog owners want - they want to be able to take their pets with them on vacation just like any other family member.
That's why the Wildwood Dog Beach at Poplar Avenue is so spectacular. The smart folks in Wildwood decided they wanted to attract families with dogs, to bring in more revenue for the city. So they created a beach where you can take your dog all year long with no hourly restrictions. Families with dogs are now spending more money in Wildwood than ever before, and the only restrictions are that you have your dog properly immunized and licensed, and that your dog be on leash on the beach. Also, you are asked NOT to bring dog food with you on the beach and please clean up any messes your dog makes.
So far the dog beach has been a huge success and has been kept spotlessly clean.
We will back to the dog beach again this year and next year as well.
- EricaMore than a year agoawesome dog beach
We took our dog there last summer and she loves jumping in the ocean playing in the sand we can't wait to come back in July.
