Mt. Philo State Park

Mt. Philo State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Charlotte, VT. The 168-acre park is located atop Mt. Philo (968' elevation) and overlooks the Lake Champlain Valley and the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The mountaintop picnic area offers spectacular views of the lake, valley, and mountains to the west. Your dog can join you for a hike as long as they're leashed and cleaned up after. Visit Website

Great Hike!
Went in October 2020. Great hike- it did cost to get in but I do not mind paying to help a State Park. Definitely busy that time of year.

Dog friendly easy hike
We visited Mt. Philo while on vacation in Vermont. My dog loves hikes, so was very eager to get to the top. It's decently steep for a beginner hiker like me, but I would still put it in the easy range as long as you are willing to huff it a bit. There were lots of other dogs around to say hello to, all on leash. There was one pet waste station near the entrance to the trail, but then nothing, even when you got to the bathroom facilities at the top (so I had to carry the poop bag the whole way) - this is my only gripe about it. It took us just about 30 minutes up and the same back down. Highly recommend!

Beautiful View
Took about 30 min for us to walk to the top and a little longer for the bottom. we walked the road not the trail. The view was beautiful. They had picnic tables and bathrooms at the top which was very nice really enjoyed the time.
