Great beach to take your fur babies.

The beach is not wide but it is long enough to take a long walk with your dogs. Better to go early in the morning.

    The best!

We’ve traveled to several dog friendly beaches, but St. George was by far the best. They are so welcoming on the beach (all hours of the day, not just certain hours) and in many stores and restaurants. We can’t wait to go back!

    Avoid!

Not only do dogs not have access to a beach, paths are not marked and the land is filled with sand spurs which gets into their paws, on their feet and under their bellies.

A waste of a day and 400 miles to get there and home.

Why State of Florida, can't dogs have access to that huge beach?

Great location, RUFF for pet owners

This beach is beautiful but extremely packed. No opportunity for off leash and no separate areas for dogs. No one seemed to mind our pups but it was very difficult to enjoy the beach while staying attached to the leash. Would not recommend unless you have an extremely behaved dog that will stay right by your side if off the leash.

Harry A’s Restaurant- Saint George Island Beach Florida

Pet friendly. They were happy to see our pup. There was another dog and owner there as well. Good food and very clean.

    Beach YES! State Park NO!

the address give at the beginning of this page is someone’s driveway. Go to the beach by the light house! Public parking there. Bathrooms. Poop bags and barrels. We did drive to the gate of the state park to find NO DOGS. So I reread some of the reviews again - everything is dog friendly EXCEPT the State Park. Any way, we had a great time! Off leash as long as they respond to Voice recall. Again, excellent time. Go. Enjoy. Your dog will thank you!

    Very pet friendly

SGI is one of the most pet friendly beach towns that we have visited. Most restaurants and beaches will allow pets with the exception of the state park(As with all FL state parks).

state park is NOT dog friendly

On a whim my family decided to drive to St George and take the dogs to the beach. I looked it up on BringFido just to make sure that it was dog friendly. So 2 hours later we arrived at the park gate only to be told that dogs are not allowed in the park at all unless I want to pay a fine.

    Prefer Off Leash

This beach is beautiful and it was great we could access it from the restaurant. We did not see bags or waste receptacles but we came prepared. I like their policy that dogs can be off leash if you have them under voice control - that makes a lot more sense than a straight leash only approach. Even though our dogs have excellent recall, we kept them on leash because it was so crowded with non-dog people. I think a segregated "dogs only" area would be best but I don't if if there is a suitable stretch of beach on the island for that.

    Beware

Just wanted to make your site aware that we were barred from entering the State Park at the guard shack because the State employee said one of our dogs 'looks like a bulldog'. He also told us that we would have to 'call the sheriff's office' if we wanted to walk her on the public beach. We contacted the appropriate authorities and were informed no such breed restriction exists. I have put in a complaint with the State and will be pursuing that. Please inform readers that this seems to be some unsanctioned breedist discrimination going on at the State park and to use caution if their dog is not a purebred. Very disturbing to come across, we never even opened our car door. We spoke with the Visitors Center to make them aware of this as well. Thanks, your website is awesome and we're big fans.

Awesome place to bring your dog!

What a wonderful slice of heaven! Not only is it one of the most beautiful beaches around, with hardly any "over-development", it is dog friendly throughout! You're not confined to one tiny space, (as other dog friendly beaches are!), and you can stroll the entire island (6 miles worth!) with your little canine pal!

    Great dog beach!

The beach at St. George is lovely and long! Good access to fresh water, shady sheltered area and doggy waste bags nearby.
You pet will love it! (And so will you...)

    Run'n the surf

I've taken a pair of Shih Tzu's to this public beach a number of times. One (Sophie) loves to run the surf and is very interested in all the activities, especially the gulls. The other (Zoey) not so much, likes to sit in the shade of the beach chair and watch the world go by. Beach has always been very inviting to the four legged members, most pets have been well behaved and are a welcome addition.
