One of the best dog parks that I have been to in Pinellas County. This place has TONS of shade and it's all grass, ZERO DIRT or weeds... Sand Key Park does an amazing job keeping up with this place. It's super clean & HUGE...

    Uncrowded.. and expensive.

Visited the park after lunch on an overcast December weekday. Plenty of paid parking available, and I'll tell you why. Unlike Clearwater metered parking, where you pay for the amount of time you want, in Sand Key you pay $5 for all day. Now, if you are staying all day, that is better value than Clearwater. But if you're only going to spend an hour or less at the dog park, it isn't. The big dogs section of the park was almost empty, just one (friendly) guy with two dogs. He was cleaning up other dogs' messes. As has been noted elsewhere, there is a water station. Not much shade.

    Great Dog Park!

Has a separate park for small dogs which we loved. Tennis balls all around for playing. Has fresh water available for drinking. And best of all....no poop to step in. Very clean!

    Rules are rules.

I stopped going to this park late last year because so many owners of big dogs use the small dog section to socialize with small dog owners . There dogs may know one another but my 10lb s sh is completely intimidated by their 60lb shepherd. These people claim to be locals and give stupid answers when questioned about the dog size "their all dogs buddy" "my dogs a nice dog" "don't worry , this side's for the good big dogs". Sand key is no longer a public dog park, it's a place for a small group of people to socialize with total disregard for pinnellas county park rules and a complete lack of common decency and respect for other park users. It's time for some county enforcement at this park.

    My dog loves this park

I walk from my house to this park with my dog multiple times per week. The dogs and owners are all very nice. The park is clean and the grass is well taken care of. There are watering stations and tennis balls that are communal in case you forget yours. Love this place and so does my dog!

Great areas for large & small dogs

This dog park is a bit hard to find...you have to circle around to the left as you approach the human/beach areas. The fenced area is separated for large and small dogs, has shade and seating for humans and running water for dogs. Very well-designed and very large. The parking spaces have self-service pay kiosks--the only reason we gave this a 4 instead of a 5.
