    Good Dog Hike

This was a great trail with creek water throughout. Take bug spray and water for sure! I went around 7:30am and had the trail to myself on the way there. I was careful because I did see some poison ivy. When we got to Morning Glory Bridge there were people repelling. I am glad my dog and I did this hike!

Fun, but more challenging than expected!

While we really enjoyed this trail, we didn't exactly know what we were getting into. (At least when we went in October 2022). Due to past flash floods, almost all trail markers had been washed away, and there were dozens of times when we weren't sure which way was the "correct" trail. However, (luckily) most of the time, the two trail options joined back up shortly. We also didn't realise we would absolutely be getting our feet wet; or climbing through, around, and over small boulders on our journey. The majority of parties we passed had at least one dog with them, but many were off-leash. And frankly, with the challenging terrain in a few spots, it would be difficult to keep even the best behaved and skilled pup on leash in those places, due to narrow passes, crossing water, and climbing up or down rocks. There were also at least two places that my (relatively young and agile) pup was too uncertain to follow me, and I had to let her find her own way back to the trail. Finally, this trail would require a lot more planning if we had done it in the heat of summer, as I would've needed way more water, and my pup probably would've needed some kind of booties to protect her feet from the sand that would be blazing hot on almost the entire trail. All that being said, we did both have a lot of fun, got to challenge ourselves without pushing too far, and the water was great for Lexi to both wade in (and swim, if she had wanted) and drink. Since we went in autumn, the weather was wonderful with the coolness of the shady canyon and periodic stretches of sun. I would certainly do this trail with my pup again someday!

    Fun hike

I wasn't in Moab for long and was trying to plan something to do. This trail came up a few times. My two pups completed the hike but there were a couple places they needed help. I did notice a sign at the trailhead saying a flood damaged some things and that they hadn't been fixed yet so it may be better when it is complete. One of my pups is 10 and the other is not quite 1. We saw many dogs on the trail. As others mentioned some were off leash. Most listened to their owners pretty well and their owners controlled them. There is quite a few stream crossings so definitely able to keep the pups cool.

    Great Hike by the Stream

This was a really fun hike that crisscrossed the stream constantly. The scenery was beautiful and the terrain was very easy. However, the trail itself was too hot for our pup, but that was on us, hiking in the afternoon in 109F heat! So, be prepared for it to be hot with long stretches with no shade, but if you get there early or during a different time of year I imagine it would be perfect! I’d definitely do it again!

Great start to our hiking summer!

This was our first road trip of 2021. We travel with our two doggies, Indy & Boone. This is a scenic, mostly shaded, several stream crossings, cactus beds, and an absolutely BEAUTIFUL hike. We loved it! The dogs loved it!!! I recommend this hike. Thank you to all who have commented and Bringfido.com. The descriptions were spot on!

    What A Great Hike!!

We left below zero temps in Colorado for some desert hiking and we were not disappointed!! We all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day hike! The weather was great and the trail was so much fun for Kiah! she loves to jump over rocks and streams so this was perfect! We were the first ones to the natural bridge that day - a treasure at the end for sure!! #kiahlovestravel!

    Grandstaff Canyon

This is our favorite dog-friendly trail. if it’s a hot day both humans and dogs can cool off in the water throughout.
most dogs are off leash and happy. Keep pups close as there are some steep areas and lizard dogs may wander. There is the coolest arch and water fall at the end!!!

    Great Trail

The trail is mostly shaded if you go in am. The trail follows and crosses back and forth across a stream! Great for playing and drinking

    Awesome And Easy Hike

Wonderful, quick hike with the pups. Water throughout the entire trail to help cool the pups down. We went in the early morning to avoid the heat. As we returned, the sun was shining bright but there were still moments of shade and relief! WATCH OUT FOR FOX’s TAIL AND POISON IVY! Poison ivy grows abundantly on this trail and although the dogs won’t react, if they get in it and come into contact with you, it won’t be fun. Also, we pulled at least 5 fox’s tails from our dogs paws because they were so close to the trail’s edge. Just be cautious.

    Grandstaff Canyon - A Must!

This was by far our favorite dog-friendly hike in the Moab area! Our pup got too hot on most of the other hikes, but this beautiful hike has a stream the whole way through so she was able to play in the water to cool down. The end of the hike is stunningly beautiful. A must-do hike!

    What a great hike!

We loved our early morning hike into the recently re-named Grandstaff Canyon. Still named for the same area pioneer, just using his last name. Our hound dog adored being able to get out on the trail after the prior day's riding around the local national parks. There was plenty of up and down, several stream crossings on good steady rocks, much sniffing and a clearly marked, medium challenging trail. This is a beautiful, dog friendly hike that our family would certainly recommend.
