Give It A Try!
Corona ArchI almost didn’t do this hike based off of the reviews about it being difficult with a larger dog in the slick rock and ladder section. I told myself we would go as far as we could even if it wasn’t to the arch. so glad I did! I was able to get my 56# pound dog though that section using his harness. He is a younger athletic dog though. We went later in the afternoon and evening, so there was enough shade in spots for us to rest and drink water. Because I was not able to hike in Arches with a dog, this hike fulfilled the want of being under an arch. On this trail I was able to see two arches (Corona and Bow tie) then we went back and did the trail to Pinto arch. There were a couple of tricky areas with Pinto trail but easily doable for us. I would do this hike again in a heartbeat! I only gave 4 dog bones because of the tricky part and needing more confidence with a small or athletic abled dog to complete the hike.
Good Dog Hike
Grandstaff Canyon TrailThis was a great trail with creek water throughout. Take bug spray and water for sure! I went around 7:30am and had the trail to myself on the way there. I was careful because I did see some poison ivy. When we got to Morning Glory Bridge there were people repelling. I am glad my dog and I did this hike!
Rim Hiking was great
Dead Horse Point State ParkBeautiful scenery to enjoy with your dog. I did the west to east rim hike with some of the smaller point hikes. A summer hike requires plenty of water for you and your dog. There is a bathroom along the rim trail that was a good spot to refill the dog water bottle. Throughout most (but not all) of the hike we could find a shady spot to rest. the hiking was easy. Since there are limited hikes you can take your dog on, I recommend this park.
