This is a National Forest, not a park. As such, there is no "front gate" or employees unless you are going into a camping area or to one of the springs. The springs are not controlled by the National Forest; they are privately contracted out and are not dog friendly. However, there are countless dog friendly trails all over the forest accessible by sand roads with 4 wheel drive. Download the All Trails app to find hiking areas.

The forest "address" is not exactly relative! The trails and hidden gems can be accessible by many different clay packed roads. I take my dogs walking off leash throughout all numbered and many unnumbered trails, we find the smaller trails to avoid other people or trail riders. Many bodies of water to cautiously let my pups enjoy and gps location on my phone is still accessible in most areas.

Was told that my dog would not be allowed in most areas including where the Springs are located. She offered one Trail that started just at the entrance of the parking area, but that was the only option for where my dog was allowed. I would definitely skip this place if you are planning to bring your dog as they are not catering to being pet friendly.

We did not continue into the park because the worker at the front gates was not very happy to be there and when we asked about bringing our pup in she said that was not allowed, while other people were driving in with dogs on their lap... did not like that environment, but maybe someone else will interact with a different, happier worker!
