    Econ River Wilderness Area

    Leashed dogs are welcome on trails at Econ River Wilderness Area, a 240 acre dog-friendly property located on the Seminole/Orange County line south of Oviedo, FL on the west side of the Econlockhatchee River. A walk on the approximately 3 miles of trails will take you through habitats such as pine flatwoods, sandhill, and river swamp. Wildlife observed on this site includes the great horned owl, white-tailed deer, bobcat, northern bobwhite, raccoon, and golden mouse. Benches are provided at a bend in the river so you can rest and enjoy the quiet serenity of this little piece of natural Florida. Visit Website

      Great Trail to Explore

      Beautiful typical Florida park as there are plenty of pine trees with oak trees here and there as you walk the trail. Depending on the time of day you will see wildlife. I went in the hot afternoon so I mostly saw tourists and turtles. After a while on the trail you'll come to the wilderness area which is absolutely beautiful and full with old oak trees, magnolias, and when you reach the Little Econ you'll see Cypress trees and Cypress knees.

      Great location

      this is one of my favorite trails to go, it’s never crowded and the trails are beautiful. It is cut in half but an open area with power lines, if you follow them all the way down to the left you get to the river. We have witnessed cool wildlife as well like otters and tortoises.

      Lots of shade

      Typically very few people, but have seen horses. About .4 mike of shade... then a field- watch for chiggers and Burs, then 3+ more miles of loop trail in woods.
