Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

Dogs are welcome at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park in Micanopy, FL. Due to potential conflict with alligators, snakes, and bison, pets are not allowed on some of the trails in the park, but this won't stop you and Fido having an awesome time. You can still wander the Wacahoota Trail, leading to an observation trail; Chacala Trail, a series of loop trails; and a number of other trails. The trails that are not pet-friendly are Cone's Dike Trail, Bolen Bluff Trail, and La Chua Trail. Visit Website

Or call (352) 466-3397 for more information.

Dog Friendly at only one entrance.

The main entrance with the boat ramp and visitors center is dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed in the visitors center. Some trails allow dogs, some do not. Ask the gate worker for a map when you drive in and they can show you.

Bring water for your pet. Some of the trails are intense.
