South Mountain State Battlefield is pet-friendly. This park commemorates the battleground where the first major Civil War battle took place in Maryland. Located along the gaps of South Mountain, you and Fido can jump on the Appalachian Trail and check out the only place in the country where it intersects with a battleground. The rest of the park is made up of diverse farm and forestland. While you're exploring the varied landscape, you may find other wildlife on adventures too. South Mountain State Battlefield is open every day of the week from 8am until sunset.
