    Disappointing dog beach

We took our pups here and between the sharp shells and rough water, it was not ideal. The dogs got a bit of water time in but it felt too unsafe to enjoy.

Small clean beach but no facilities

Plenty of paid parking and the beach although small was nice but I won't be back because there's no way to clean up your dog before you leave.

    Underwhelmed!

Staying in Largo and drove 40 minutes to get to the Pass A Grille dog beach. Very disappointed when we got there by how small and narrow the dog section is. Also, it is on the eastern, land-facing side of the peninsula, not on the western ocean-facing side. It is only a few steps to the ocean side, and it’s a pity they won’t allow dogs a little area on this side. We passed mile after mile of beach to get here, and can’t understand why the authorities are so dog-unfriendly. Surely there must be thousands of locals with dogs? Where do they go?

    Found by accident

Hoping to collect shells via a boat trip but was full so found this park by walking around. Parking on the weekend afternoons can be challenging. Not super busy and people & pets were friendly. Not super big or wide area but nice for dogs that need to be leashed.

    Great Little Beach

We took our 10 month old to this beach while on vacation and it was perfect! Despite some reviews saying it was hard to find we found it easily, like the description says it’s between 1st and 3rd st. you can park along the side of the road right next to the dog beach. When we went there was plenty of parking spaces available and a handful of dogs on the beach. Finn enjoyed swimming in the ocean and playing in the sand. Everyone we saw was friendly and for the most part was on a leash. We would definitely recommend this beach and will return on future trips!
There were lots of shells on the beach but it didn’t bother our dog. Some seaweed like any ocean but not bad.
    Very clean area overall.

    Beautiful little dog beach!

Cool little dog beach! Beautiful water and white sand! Convenient paid parking (2 hrs was about $6-7). People were super friendly! Dogs had a great time. My main wish is that it would have been nice to be fenced and dogs could be off leached but it’s definitely a cool little spot!

Nice little natural beach with sparkling waters for Fido

Both my dog Mia and her people enjoyed swimming at the Dog beach. There were Star fish, a baby Manatee swimming curiously up near us and dolphins playing in the waves. The water was sparkling clean and sand was white with a natural beach appearance. We spent 3 days at this beach and my Pug learned to swim there. Easy access and park early. Majority of dog owners followed rules but some did not, though I should give 5 for the beach and 4 to those people…overall enjoyable.

    Disappointed!!!!

I was so excited after researching the area, to find a little beach for my two small dogs to play- safely-leashed. This was their first experience at a beach. We drove around and around no signs anywhere. We finally found the tiny area where dogs are allowed. And guess what!! Most dogs unleashed!!! The beach was full of seaweed, Not that clean or taken care of, and VERY Shelly so be careful as little paws could get their foot pads cut. It’s like the city designated the worst possible spot for your pet. Humans would not want to sit on this beach with their dogs. We enjoyed the Bench down the sidewalk more than the beach. Sad!!!! All the dog beaches are “Big Dog”. off leash which can be very dangerous for little dogs. A- shame the city can’t have a nicer area since there are SO MANY people here in Florida who have pets and bring them on their vacations. A needed improvement. How about a beach you can actually bring your dog with you. we traveled 1000 miles with our pets only to see the Gulf….. from a distance. Heartbreaking!!!

Just go to Fort de Soto or Hollywood Park instead

I'm vacationing here and took my labradoodle over the weekend to the dog beach. It’s pretty small but there were dogs both off and on leash. I felt like it was just an owners preference. Everyone was respectful of boundaries and my dog had a great time. MONDAY MORNING we go down for a walk without a leash because we were the only ones on the beach. A policeman approached me and told me there were strict leash laws for the dog beach (posted nowhere) and then he took my license and went to his cruiser and did whatever police people do with people’s license. We just ended up leaving and I warned a few people who were coming in that the police are patrolling the beach because their dogs were off leash too. They ended up leaving, too. Ridiculous.

Best dog beach in the area!

This beach is wonderful! it is very small but was not crowded at all. we had the best time! the water was crystal clear and we found the best shells! All dogs were leashes and owners were all respectful and responsible! be aware that parking is expensive ($3.75 an hour) it is right there on the beach though which was nice! This beach also does not have basic amenities, no bathroom/ water/ wash station. make sure you bring plenty of water! definitely recommend!

    Great Spot

Stayed for a few days right down the street. The main beach at pass-a-grille does not allow dogs but this was plenty big enough for our dog to get a swim and run around. Everyone there was friendly. Be warned, it is a small strip of beach not far off the road at all so could be dangerous if you don’t trust your dogs recall!

    Very Nice And Relaxing Place

We visited the beach on a Tuesday and it wasn’t crowded as much as I read on preview reviews. This beach still allow dogs in it, and I saw many on and off leash (there’s not a policy sign around). The only down side was the parking because you have to pay to park and we ended up paying $13 for 4hrs.

    Okay place

The main beach at pass a grille is not dog friendly. There is dog beach near the location. The dog beach is very small a lot of big dogs off the leash. The beach overall was a nice experience and will visit again.
