    Peaceful in September

It was a beautiful day to walk on the beach and see the natural beauty of the plant life, birds, butterflies and plants. We also could see the ferry terminal. Quite interesting! Good outing with our dog.

    Beautiful beach

Winnie had the best time exploring and meeting other dogs! Most dogs were off leash.

    Great afternoon at Higbee beach

Lovely small beach near Cape May. Calm water was great for our Boy Scout., although our daughter craved bigger waves. Lots of great restaurants near by. So happy for the recommendation by our waiter from Fins!

    Fun in the April sun

Great, secluded dog friendly beach. Our pup can't be off leash, but most were.

    Good dog beach but…

dogs are supposed to be leashed and about 90% of the dogs there were unleashed. Some owners just let their dogs wander without paying attention. This was the case the last time we went, too. The upside is that the beach is wide and long enough that you can find your own space. Our dog is friendly, but we don’t trust other people and it is anxiety-inducing when an unfamiliar dog charges at you or walks onto your belongings without warning.

The water is shallow enough for dogs to wade or swim, parking is easy to find, and the walk to the beach is short. The sand is very fine and comfortable.

    Watch out for biting flies

I actually loved the day we spent here. Quieter than Wildwood and super dog friendly. The only downside was the biting flies, despite using bug spray. This is the only reason I did not give it a 5 bone rating. We parked at the lot at the end of the road and it was not much of a walk to the beach but it was super soft sand. My son was determined to use our wagon and although it was a bit of a struggle, better than schlepping everything by hand. I would definitely be willing to give it another try, but not without my mesh bug suit or covering up from head to toe to avoid the bites. Our fidos had fun here.

Great beach for dogs in summer

Most of the other beaches in Cape may don't allow dogs in the summer, but Higbee does. ENJOY! Once you get there, drive right on a gravel road to another parking lot. There's a short walk to the beach.
