- PamJan 8, 2024So many great trails to hike with our little guy
We go to the park often with our hiking chihuahua, Toby. Trails from easy to difficult are well marked and well kept. Great restaurants around and a few are dog friendly with outdoor dining.

Not all National Parks allow dogs on the trails, but this one is super dog friendly. Stop at the visitors center and get your dog certified as a BARK Ranger, which includes a certificate and tag for her collar.

New River Gorge National Park Rangers are knowledgeable, gracious, extremely helpful, and the BARK RANGER PROGRAM is an honor!
- JulieJun 30, 2022Super Pup Friendly
We were able to take our dog to every location we visited: Thurmond, Nuttallburg, Sandstone Falls & dogs are allowed on all trails from our research. Of course they aren't allowed in buildings (unless they are a service animal). We saw a lot of dog owners throughout our travels & our pup had a blast.
