- JasonOct 21, 2023Best Off Leash Park and I Miss it.
Like other reviewers, I lived in Memphis, actually Cordova and was in walking distance to this awesome place. I loved it so much I tried to start a newsletter about the park and the dogs that went there. The Grizzlies season tickets and this dog park are the two things I miss the most and I'm not sure which I miss the most. The dogs I had when I lived there (Loki, Baxter and Gus) have since passed on but it has always given me peace knowing how much their lives were enriched by this place and have thought about making the drive with my new dog just so he could experience the park because the dog park he goes to now is not comparable. To the volunteers, keep up the great work and if you still sale shirts let me know.
- DanielJul 27, 2023Warning! Prolonged use of this park may lead to withdrawal symptoms.
2 dogs, 5 years in Memphis. I lived 10 mins away from home his park and we went AT LEAST 3 times each week. If not more. Regardless of the weather.
This park allows you to actually drive in and park. (Both entrances) That way you don't have to worry about the leashes period.
Never in my life did I imagine such a huge place meant for dogs exists.
I usually ran the perimeter which was easily 5k.
There is a pond near the 1st entrance that seems to be a hot bed of dog related shenanigans. Some days, it will be quite a circus.
Don't be intimidated. There are times when you could have the whole place to yourself.
If not, don't be afraid to try another trail.
Tip: the "no off leash dogs beyond this point" signs are more of a suggestion. Be aware those trails are us f by bikers and horses on occasion. Also, there are a lot and they are extensive. Don't get yourself lost.
Since we've moved back to Nashville, I have 6 dog parks within 30 mins. Not one is even a half acre. All are filled with superfluous things like "obstacles" or hoops and see-saws, which are essentially expensive piss-poles.Sigh. All we need is a few acres and a fence. Now my pooches lay around all day twitching. :(
- DeidreApr 20, 2023Best dog park ever!
Acres of grassy fields, 5 lakes, dirt and gravel paths, trees and woods, friendly dogs, dog wash station and bike paths. Ginger has a blast swimming in lake and chasing other dogs, we were able to bike on trails while she ran beside us. I wish we had this park in other states!
- SusanFeb 22, 2022Outstanding off-leash open fields Park
Two parking areas off of Trinity Road for the dog park…we were visiting Memphis and so glad BringFido led us to this park. With two small lakes for swimming and acres of open fields for running & playing, our two Border Collies were in heaven playing with other dogs and just running, running, running! Everyone we met were very friendly. Highly recommend!
- KateNov 23, 2021Dog owners beware.
I took my dog here today to go walking. I kept him on his leash because, not everyone has control of their dogs. While there a off leash dog attacked my dog. Whom did nothing but, try to get away and lay on the ground. The owner a 40-50 year old white male laughed in my face and told me it’s my fault my dog was being attacked. Why you ask? Because my dog was on a leash. So for anyone wanting to visit according to this man and his loud mouthed wife..you’re not allowed to walk your dog on a leash here. Just be warned to anyone that comes here most people do NOT have control over their animals. Then want to put blame on you for being a RESPONSIBLE pet owner. If I could give negative stars I would!!!!
- AlexaAug 15, 2021Happy pup!
It is not completely fenced off, so keep that in mind if you go. That being said- this is the most AWESOME dog park EVER! MUST SEE! There were a lot of other dogs, everyone was very friendly and our dog had an absolute ball of a time! We did too! If you have two leg kiddos there is a playground in Shelby park and it’s a must see also! Dogs welcome on leash there.
- StarrOct 21, 2020Best dog park ever
This changes everything heat I know about dog parks. This is like amusement park for dogs and humans alike. My pups were so happy.
- TeresaSep 28, 2019One of a kind park!
I have traveled to 41 states with my pup and this is truly one of the best parks we have come across. Friendly people, lovely trails, super spacious and wonderful sunsets to add even more 😁 am usually very suspicious of most dog parks, but highly recommend the Outback at Shelby Farms Park!
- CaroleenAug 4, 2019Please Read Before Unleashing
This is a beautiful park. That being said before you unleash your baby and let them roam please ensure that your dog has excellent recall skills and responds to verbal commands. I say this because part of The Outback area is NOT fenced in. As a Memphian I see the Facebook posts from locals looking for their baby who
was having so much fun they just kept going and end up being hit on one of the ultra busy roads around the park. It is devastating. The park is awesome but I am going to give it one bone because of this and in hopes that someone will read this...and if it keeps one family from finding their baby hit it was worth it. - ThalleyJun 15, 2019Great Park!
We had a wonderful visit with our lab while on a road trip. He played and swam in all three ponds.
- AdamMar 31, 2019Amazing - a destination
How can I give it more than 5 stars??
We were in town for less than a week and thought we had researched the Shelby Farms dog park. But, nothing prepared us for how amazing it is! Perfect rolling terrain, plenty of water and grass. Wish the water was running, but understand it being off for winter. This place is absolutely amazing. I'm almost mad that there is nothing like this by us (NE TN). Everyone was very nice and our dog had a BLAST! We will be back for the sole reason of visiting the park. There needs to be more parks like this everywhere! - ShaniaMar 23, 2019Best Place Ever
We came from Alabama and went threw Memphis and we stopped to check it out. It’s such a great place! My doggo has the best time ever.
- JMMore than a year agoAWESOME!!!!
Having two large dogs, lab and shepherd, have never seen anything like this park! It was huge, had lots of trees, water and hills to explore. It looked crowded bases on cars in lot, but it is so large that you are able to find your own spot to wander. There was not poop everywhere which tells me that people respect this park! DOGS LOVED IT and were exhausted back at the car. I wish every city had a park like this.
- VickiMay 28, 2018Huge, awesome dog park
Stopped here on our way from NC to AZ. We and our dog loved it. Sunny had a blast making new doggy friends and playing in the pond. Loved the doggie water fountains and the washing station. Wish we had brought dog shampoo with us, though. We met a couple who drives 30 miles each way to bring their dogs here and we understand why! Wish we were staying longer.
I was initially concerned because the entrance we went to was not fenced in and dogs were walking through the parking lot and could have easily gotten onto the road. We then drove around to the other side and that section had the double gates that we were used to. I'm not thrilled with the idea of cyclists, runners and horses in the same section as the dogs but we didn't encounter any of those today.
You can take your dog anywhere in Shelby Farms 4,500 acres on leash. Only this 100 acre section allows dogs off-leash.
- LaurieFeb 18, 2018Good park. Very wet today and paths were in need of maintenance. Nice that it's so large.
There were dozens of dogs and owners there and we only saw one other carrying a poop bag. People let there dogs poop everywhere and just leave it. YUCK PEOPLE! How lazy are you? And I sure wish people with nasty aggressive dogs would control their dogs better. Do they think that's normal behavior? NOT!

Our four month old ShihTzu Tchula was in heaven. She loves it. So much room to run and many friendly four-legged friends to hang out with. What a treat!
- MegMore than a year agoThe BEST!!

- Angie CallahanMore than a year agoWe Love It!
I have 2 little Mini Dachshunds Sophie and Lucy and they love it! I live in a small apartment with them and they love to get out and run off of their leash...my dogs are my babies so getting them out and letting them enjoy the farm is an important part of our week.
- SamMore than a year agoThe BEST part of Memphis
My pups and I absolutely love this dog park. The entrance can be found off Trinity Rd. There are two areas to park, so if you dont want to park at the main entrance, venture on down and you can actually park in the Park. HUGE designated off leash area. There are multiple lakes for your dogs to swim in so even during the summer, it is a great place to walk your dogs. Beware of snakes (I have seen two) since the trails are all dirt and sometimes the grass can go untamed. But overall, the best dog park in Memphis.
- BuddyMore than a year agoWish i Could give it 6 bones!
Fabulousarea for dogs and people. never before have i seen buffalo and a great blue heron in the same area!
- AndyMore than a year agoBest dog park in America
I really can't imagine a better space for off leash dog walking. Hills, trees, lakes, trails. It's wonderful. This is the thing I'll miss most about Memphis when I move.
- RussellMore than a year agoGreat, open area for dogs
Deer, squirrels, horses, joggers, runner, walkers...oh, and DOGS!!!!
There are lots of trails, open space, water holes, woods, etc. for your dog to explore. This is leash free and lots of other dogs of all sizes are roaming the dog park. This is our favorite dog spot in Memphis.
- JennyMore than a year agoPet Friendly
Located at Gate 12 of Shelby Park - huge area! There are several water spots as well.
