Huge, awesome dog park

The Outback at Shelby Farms Park

Stopped here on our way from NC to AZ. We and our dog loved it. Sunny had a blast making new doggy friends and playing in the pond. Loved the doggie water fountains and the washing station. Wish we had brought dog shampoo with us, though. We met a couple who drives 30 miles each way to bring their dogs here and we understand why! Wish we were staying longer.

I was initially concerned because the entrance we went to was not fenced in and dogs were walking through the parking lot and could have easily gotten onto the road. We then drove around to the other side and that section had the double gates that we were used to. I'm not thrilled with the idea of cyclists, runners and horses in the same section as the dogs but we didn't encounter any of those today.

You can take your dog anywhere in Shelby Farms 4,500 acres on leash. Only this 100 acre section allows dogs off-leash.

Great location, great food, and a dog menu, too!

Art and Soul

We enjoyed our experience at Art & Soul. The fried chicken thighs with white cheddar mashed potatoes were delicious as was the lamb leg pappardelle. Our hound mix, Sunny, enjoyed watching people walk by the outdoor patio and loved her frozen beef bone. Our server, Vern was great. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming.
Only 4 bones due to high prices.
