Considered an easy route which should take 1.5 hours to complete, the trail is popular for birding, hiking, and trail running. Dogs are permitted to be off-leash in certain areas. Hikers can admire panoramic views of the Northern Plains and, at 3,506 feet above sea level, those who summit can brag about reaching the highest point in North Dakota. The best months to hike this trail are between March and October.
