- JackieMore than a year agodon’t judge by the outdated reviews
This park has improved significantly since the days of the negative reviews. There is almost entirely grass in the park with some dirt/mud patches, water and poop bag stations, benches both shaded and not, young growing trees, and when I was there someone was actively maintaining the grass. Of course, this park is not perfect. Two of the three sections have run out of poop bags, which dog owners have solved for the short term by supplying bunches of their own in the stations. Possibly related to the first issue, it also seems like no one can be bothered to pick up after their dogs. But, that’s an issue at many parks. All in all, my dogs enjoyed running around the park, and they’re what matters most

After reading several of the older reviews, I was reluctant to take our newly-adopted dog to this park. She's a large, short haired pointer and I'm glad I ignored those reviews. She had a great time chasing balls and running around carefree! Regardless, the dog park is spacious and has all the amenities one could hope for. I shared photos for others to see just how spacious an well equipped this park is.
Admittedly, it could use a few more trees, but that is more of a wish than a need.
IDEA: perhaps a few local companies, or private citizens could take the lead of Ritchie Corporation (company sponsored bench) and donate trees to be added to the park?

No shade!. Not enough seating and my dogs got stickers.
- KCMore than a year agoNot bad, but kinda barren
Large dog parks with solid fencing and mostly grass covered. Water fountains have pretty weak pressure. Only a couple benches and no shade at all. On a windy day, it really blows here. People are friendly and pick up after the dogs. No problem dogs at any time while we were there.

Pretty disappointed with the park. The drinking fountains don't really work, no shade, big rocks and run off areas dogs and people can get hurt from. Plus there is no where for the owners to sit.
- CONCERNED DOG OWNERMore than a year agoBEWARE OF REBAR!!!
I love taking my grandpups to this park, however, I have found pieces of rebar sticking up out of the ground! I have tried pulling these up or just smashing the tips into the ground, but with no luck. Please beware of metal rebar sticking up, especially in the small dog area and of course, the sandburs.

Went there today. It needs mowed or a weed eater. There is no real shade for the dogs or a place for the people to sit. The dog's don't seem to care they have fun.

While the dog park is a GREAT idea, I was somewhat disappointed in the condition of the grounds. Lots of rocks and stickers. Very little grass. I can understand why grass may not grow, but the rocks could certainly be groomed out.

Between the humane society building and K-96. It open and great spot to bring your dog. Its separated into three areas, two for big dogs (+25 lbs) and one for small dogs (-25lbs). The grass is decent for the middle of winter, but because its next to the humane society it stays clean.
I'll take my dogs there again.
- New Puppy MomMore than a year agoMurfin Park finally open!
Ribbon Cutting on Murfin Dog Park happened this past October 2011. I have heard great things about it and will take my new puppy there for socialization as soon as the weather allows. So excited for the city to sponsor such a park!

used the dog park today and was very disappointed. Waited a long time for this park to open and was told by staff that it was due to letting the grass grow. I have to say what grass? The fenced in areas are full of dirt, rocks, and trash. You would think having to wait several years for this to open someone would of been able to clean of the areas. My pup came home with cuts on his paws from all the rocks/trash and has stickers all in him from all the weeds. Very disappointed in this park!!!
