- HannahMay 27, 2024Best beach with pups!
This beach access was a great experience! The beaches are clean, there's plenty of space to shower after, and the water was beautiful! We went Sunday evening on Memorial Day weekend, and there was plenty of room for the dogs to play! All other dogs on the beach were very well behaved and leashed, and the crowds were spaces enough to find many places to sit without being elbow to elbow with others!

The family and I stopped here with my dog. We had a lovely time walking around, and the access point to the beach has a runway that makes it much easier for disabled individuals to get to the beach and be included in the fun. My mom could walk to the ocean easily.

We loved spending the afternoon at Alder Lane Beach. We parked a short walk across the street at the metered lot - 15 mins for 25 cents. The dogs loved playing in the water and walking the beach. We brought a blanket and relaxed on the sand. Lots of birds to watch.

Great space to play fetch or play in water.
- SallieJul 23, 2020Great on Leash Beach!
My dog loves the beach but we have to be cautious where we go because she does react well with off leash dogs charging at her, regardless of how friendly they may be. We went to Alder Ln. beach access at 5:30 on a Wednesday and while there were a lot of people there, we saw only a handful of dogs and they were all leashed (as they should be..). It’s very disheartening for me and my dog when we go somewhere where dogs are supposed to be on leash and their owners are allowing them to run up to us off leash with no voice control. We loved this beach!!! The parking lot is metered just FYI you will need quarters.

In March dogs can run and play with no leash. Our dog runs, chases balls, splashes in the water and has a blast. It is not crowded and everyone we meet is dog friendly.
- DebraMar 16, 2019Beautiful beach with easy access and open space for dogs off leash
Although we chose a fairly chilly day, we thoroughly enjoyed beautiful Hilton head and this beach in particular. We parked in the free parking at the beginning of the road, about a 14 minute walk and strolled to the entrance over by the Marriott resort. The walk was nice but it is a bike path so you do have to give away a lot to bicycles. There are plastic walkways down to the beach which make getting across the soft sand super easy and the rest of the sand is hard and compacted. Because it was off-season, the dogs were allowed off leash and they ran and played to their hearts content. Be sure to pay attention to the special directions on finding the beach because it is a bit tricky and also to the hours and dates that the dogs can be on the beach

October to March is OFF season, and the perfect time to visit. “Under positive voice control” is easy for our dobies, so they got to run and swim and have a grand time with a dozen other dogs during our day here. Parking lot is just north of Alder Lane entry! Bring quarters. And bring a reusable bottle bc there is a water fountain and bathrooms on the boardwalk to the beach!
- NicholeMore than a year agovery nice!
The beach was a little crowded, but a short walk down and I had plenty of room to play frisbee with my dog. I will definitely be going back! Loved it!
- AmyMore than a year agoGreat beaches for dogs!
There are time restrictions for dogs in the summer due to crowds and usually it's too hot for dogs on the beach in the summer anyway. There are tons of places to take your dog in Hilton Head. As I do before going anywhere with your dog...research first!
