    Expect a fight!

The previous viewers were correct. There's almost always some intact idiot with an intact large male creating problems.

    Ehhh!

i’m giving this park 3 doggy bones out of 5 due to me bringing my puppy to this park one day and this dog just randomly decided to attack my poor puppy once we entered the park while the owner is sitting on the other side of the park! chit chatting with a friend! i had to scream get your dog! … after big there a few minutes the same dog tried bullying another dog, i sat there and watched the owner she just had a smile on her face while calling her dog other than going to go get her dog! other than this mini crisis i had everyone else seemed nice. They have a mini pool for dogs to get in and get wet 😅 also there’s tennis balls everywhere so your dog will have something to play with.

Lots of Space And Plenty Of Activities

We always bring our corgi here to meet some of his corgi friends. The park is spacious and includes obstacle/agility course type items in the right back-hand corner. There are also several covered picnic tables to sit, work, picnic, etc. Just the right amount of traffic most days. Enough to keep him entertained and not overcrowded. Great community resource!

    dog fights

I used to take my dog here. I think it might be ok still during the weekdays/early days. Weeknights and weekends are bad. There are multiple dog fights every time I’ve been lately. I’m too nervous to even stay and wish I could load up some of the sweet dogs and take them with me. Heartbreaking.

    Owners that don't pay attention

I used to take my dog here every day. However, there is a group of owners that I assume have been taking their dogs every day for months/years/who knows that literally turn their backs on their dogs to chat and even bring coolers full of beer. They pay zero attention to their dogs, and many have dogs that are problematic. The final straw was when a dog attacked MULTIPLE dogs (resulting in one dog limping and crying, the owner carrying him out) and the owner refusing to leave or even acknowledge that his dog was being aggressive. On another occasion I yelled at a woman for HITTING my dog because she was hiding under her chair, afraid of the other dogs (she wasn't bothering the woman at all). There are a lot of sweet playful dogs here, but unfortunately the poorly behaved and aggressive dogs and ignorant owners make it impossible for the rest of us to enjoy. If you are willing to drive further, I would recommend Oakwood dog park - it is cleaned more regularly and there are more attentive owners and well trained dogs.

    filthy and aggressive dogs

As soon as you get close to the dog park, there's a strong awful smell. Feces everywhere in the large dog area. I got 2 rescue dogs over 25 lbs so we went to the large dog area. As soon as we got in, one dog started dominating one of my dogs. He did it twice and got him off him so I just stayed close to my dog so he wouldn't do it again. He ran to my other dog and did the same thing. Finally the owner came and disciplined her dog. We went far from the other dogs and the same dog found us and start dominating them again. I had it, it's scaring my dogs and I took them here to play not to get harassed. I put the leashes on and started walking to go to the small dog area. The same dog came running towards us and started tackling with their leash! At this point, my dogs are getting strangled. Owner couldn't control her dog and just keep yelling at him to stop it and he would let go but he would tackle the leash of my other dog. That went on for awhile before we finally made it out. I don't think I'll take my dogs here again next time we're in town. Would rather drive farther than get my dogs harassed.

Our clients love it and we do too!

We are always wary of recommending dog parks because they are such unpredictable places, but Millbrook Exchange got so many of our clients raving that we had to check it out for ourselves! Not only did our family dog, Nike, LOVE it, but he made so many new friends!
We didn't have any run ins with aggressive dogs like the reviewer above, but there were a few uncleaned messes which is why we dropped a star, but overall it was a surprisingly good experience!

    Great Place for Dogs

This is such a great place to take your dog(s). There's actually two sides to it, one for big dogs & one for smaller dogs. I didn't realize this this first time I went & took my little guy to the big dog side. Everyone behaved (mostly) but I was a little nervous. I was glad to see there was a side for smaller dogs. It's very clean, lots of places to dispose of waste & there are plenty of places to have a sit & relax while your dogs run & play. My only problem is that it's on the opposite side of town, otherwise we'd go more often.

    Hit or Miss

The park is a nice size; it is fairly clean. There are ample waste centers. Depending on the season, the pools may be slightly neglected. Many owners pick up after their dogs. Depending on the day and time, you may be confronted by misbehaved dogs and owners who enable their companion's bad behavior. I found most of the regulars to be quite intrusive with their training perspectives.

On one instance in particular, another dog (in tact male) repeatedly dominated my dog (also in tact male).
The other dog followed my dog to every corner of the park, attempting to mount my dog.
I asked the owner of the other dog to keep their dog from mounting mine; they ignored each request.
I even went to far as to place my dog on his leash to maneuver away from the other dog.
On about the 5th or 6th mounting occasion, their dog attacked mine. The dog owner wasn't watching their dog and took a long time to get their dog off of mine.

After that incident, I am reluctant to return to this dog park. The park is nice. But, the company there is hit or miss.

    Such a great place!

Just have to tell you what a great little dog park treasure Raleigh has here. We have family who live close by and we visit pretty often. We were so happy to find this place for our 2 year old Boxer to run some energy off, since our family has a very small yard. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, there were a lot of people and dogs (which our dog loved!) and everyone was friendly. Would love to have a place like this in Richmond! Thanks, we'll be back.

Very happy to have found this place!

Took our dog to a large dog park for the first time today (not just this one specifically, but in general) and it was great! The area is huge, lots of space for them to run and play. There is a separate area for small dogs to play but most everyone was in the main area and it was just fine (I guess they know their dogs like to play with and can hang with the big boys :-)) Everyone we chatted with was very friendly and all of the dogs got along great. Everyone seemed to be keeping a good eye on their dogs, and everyone was picking up after number 2's...we'll definitely be back!!

It's okay depending on the day

This park is relatively good in size. The crowd can be hit or miss. There are habitual dog owners who bring their temperamental aggressive dogs there. A few in particular make the experience a nightmare for dogs who come to make friends and have fun. Many owners are good and pick up after their dogs and have socialized them well. Some who are nervous and are consistently interfering with their dogs play or misinterpreting play sounds with anger sounds can make the experience stressful. Early morning and late afternoons are best to avoid the owners who give unwanted free advice about dog training and those who don't have park friendly dogs.
