Cute park, a little tricky to get to.

We took our dog Maple here. It is kinda tricky to get to but loved it. We wandered around before finding it but enjoyed seeing the park. Its really a cute and a good place to bring your kids as well. I saw previous reviews about location being incorrect so put some directions that will help you. Enjoy!

DIRECTIONS IN PARK: You have to go past the wave pool and either park at the parking lot and take the asphalt path by the playground or I think you can drive down on the left on a narrow road. There is a sign with dog park on it to help and a small parking lot there.

Good Location And The Best Around!

We drove from Morgantown (30 minutes away) just to come to this dog park. The ones in my area are awful so we figured we would give this one a try and see how it is! We were really impressed as to how much nicer this one is compared to the ones in my area. There are two large dog sections and one small dog section. I believe it is about 4 acres total. There is even a little doggie water fountain which we don’t have in my area either! The first part of the large dog section is on a slope but if you walk down to the second large dog section, it’s a flat grassy area! My dog absolutely loved running around in there. The only downfall I saw and the only reason I gave it 4/5 stars was because the fence in some sections looks older and is starting to lean a bit making the durability of it not the best. On another note, the address listed is not correct. After you get off the Downtown Gateway exit, go straight through the stop light. You will go past the MCPARC building. Make the first right. That road is a dead end but you will make a left turn heading towards the park. After you pass the swimming pool, turn left into the parking lot and in the right hand side back corner, you drive down that road. After that, you will see arrows pointing you to the dog park on the signs from there. There is parking just right out from the dog park. Super easy access when you get there! Compared to the dog parks where I live where I live, it was 100x better! You can tell the people care a lot more about this one and at least make an attempt to keep it up!

    My dog loved it!!

I visited this park for the first time today. I had read some reviews about a year ago and was very hesitant to go based on some of those. This park is great. It was completely shaded with all of the trees around. All of the dogs there this evening were very well behaved and trained. I will definitely be bringing my dog back to visit.

    Address incorrect

We couldn’t find the place, both the address on this app and info we found online about the park led us astray. Not knowing the area the person who posted earlier about an incorrect address didn’t help.

    Excellent

great place to take the dog, 3 separate areas to separate dogs if you need to. Small area for little dogs , and 2 full size areas for regular dogs...one area is a shaded hillside which can be muddy a day or two after a good rain, but there is also a flat grassy area that is wide open to the sun and is a great place to play ball or Frisbee.

    Really good park

Visiting from out of town and found it online. As nice as any dog park we have in Nashville. Recommend it! As a side note...the relatives that live in Fairmont didn't know about it. You should check it out.

    Yuck

I agree with Connie. This park was a huge disappointment. I've never been to a dog park that doesn't have grass. It's a muddy mess and so is the road to get back to it. We couldn't believe how tiny it is.

    Skip this place

What a terrible disappointment. Both the small and large dog areas are nothing but mud and leaves. They are so small that mot peoples' living rooms are bigger. Also, the road back to the park is so bad that it will knock your vehicle out of alignment. What a joke and disappointment.

MAP LOCATION INCORRECT - but the park is great!

The dog park is within East Marion Park, which is not the location marked on the map. To get to this park, you turn from WV 273 (Gateway Connector) onto Cole Street (opposite of the on-ramp for I-79 South). You take a right at the first stop sign beside the Marion County Parks and Recreation Center (MCPARC). You continue into East Marion park towards pavilion #5, which is near the dog park. Once you get into East Marion Park, the route to the dog park is well-marked.

    Fido's Backyard

Excellent dog park. It is clean and shaded well. There is water available in the park to give your dog. The separate area for small and large dogs is a plus.
