Popular for wildlife viewing, visitors also have an opportunity to see over 50 birds including owls, hawks, indigo bunting and the pileated woodpecker. Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy a scenic stroll along Wildflower Trail, a smooth, flat, mile-long path which is popular with botanists, photographers and nature lovers. Extend your walk with Fido by crossing over to the Enola Low Grade Trail or Municipal Hiking Trail, both lying just beyond the preserve boundary. The wildflower season falls between March and June, but timing a visit in April or May should coincide with peak bloom at Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve.

Canine Meadows

Fido is invited to play at Canine Meadows, an off-leash facility located within John C. Rudy Park in York, PA. There are three enclosed areas for dogs of all sizes to run. Dogs are required to be state-licensed, vaccinated and wearing current ID tags.
