Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is a pet-friendly destination for motorcyclists, 4-wheelers, picnickers, and campers in the Gabilan Mountains near San Jose. Fido can join you on a leash on the 5 miles of trails located at the end of Madrone camp for hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and checking out the spring wildflowers. As well as these five miles of trails, there are 13 miles of dog-friendly trails at the Mudstone Ranch, a non-motorized section of the park. The park is open from October 1st through May 31st. A 2200 foot climb to Simas Peak is rewarded with a fantastic view of the Salinas Valley and Monterey Bay. Toro Park is Salinas' top location for horseback riding, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. 20+ miles of trails over 4756 acres. Over 100 geocache sites are located at Toro Park. It is also a popular spot for birding, and is a stop on the Central Coast Birding Trail. Park for free just outside the main gate or inside for a per vehicle fee. See Details

The woodlands in the area are home to lots of different birds and animals. Fido is welcome to join you at certain communal areas at this state park, including campsites and picnic areas.
