Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve, a former dairy farm, is a dog-friendly spot you can take your pooch to in Far Hills, NJ. The prime aim of this area of natural habitat is to preserve, protect and grow the natural life that exists in the state, both animals and plants. You and your pooch can go on a nature walk on one of the trails, check out the exteriors of the old buildings that still stand there, and admire the vast array of colorful flowers when they bloom. Allamuchy Dog Park
Allamuchy Dog Park is a members-only recreation space in New Jersey where dogs can play off-leash. This fenced park is home to a grassy field for fetch, a fire hydrant, benches and a shady tree. The Allamuchy Dog Park is open from sunrise to sunset, spring and summer. In the fall and winter, lights are on from 4:00pm to 8:30pm, which is when the park is closed. Membership is $25 per year.

Abram S. Hewitt State Forest
Bring Fido to explore the pet-friendly Abram S. Hewitt State Forest in West Milford, NJ. This hiker's haven is not for the faint-hearted. The relatively untouched hemlock and oak forested area has some trails scattered around that can be a little difficult to scramble at times. If your pup is light and doesn't mind being carried for some sections, the view at the top is well worth the effort. A section of the Appalachian Trail also runs through the park.
