The main hub of the Schaeffer Farm Trail System can also be found within the park, extending into most of the upcounty area with lots of loops that link the Seneca, Muddy Branch, and Potomac watersheds. One of the main attractions of the park is the 90-acre Clopper Lake, surrounded by forests and fields. Dogs are welcome throughout the park on a leash if owners clean up any mess that they leave behind. The headwaters of the Zekiah Swamp are located in the park, extending through Charles County for 20 miles, and finally emptying into the Wicomico River. There are a number of fields around the swamp that can be explored by dogs and their owners, and who knows, you may find the burial ground that is rumored to be in the area. Remember to keep Fido on a leash under six feet for the duration of their stay. Dogs are allowed in all the day use areas and can even camp in the campground with their owners too.
