Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site is pet-friendly. You and Fido can explore one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation together. This 765-acre park is home to pretty picnic areas and four miles of dog-friendly hiking trails that weave around the historic area. Unfortunately, Fido will have to wait outside if you want to check out the pioneer cabins or any of the other buildings in the park. The fee for entry is $5.50 per adult. Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site is only open Thursday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
Pet Friendly Etowah Indian Mounds State Park in Cartersville, GA
Dogs are allowed to join their owners at the outdoor areas of Etowah Indian Mounds State Park. Previously the home to several thousand Native Americans from 1000 A.D. to 1550 A.D., this park came to life to protect 54-acres that includes six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch. The earthen mounds, which have the appearance of being artificial hills from the Teletubbies, are an interesting historical phenomenon that were constructed by Native American tribes for numerous reasons, including for burial or ritual purposes. The fee for entry into the park is $6 for adults. Etowah Indian Mounds State Park is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
