Previously the home to several thousand Native Americans from 1000 A.D. to 1550 A.D., this park came to life to protect 54-acres that includes six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch. The earthen mounds, which have the appearance of being artificial hills from the Teletubbies, are an interesting historical phenomenon that were constructed by Native American tribes for numerous reasons, including for burial or ritual purposes.
