Shields Peak Trail Shields Peak Trail is a dog-friendly hike in Angelus Oaks, CA. This trail is known to be extremely difficult, 12.2-mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 7.5 hours to complete with Fido. Heading into the San Gorgonio Wilderness and getting to the San Bernardino Divide is difficult on any trail. Even the most conditioned dogs will struggle on this trail. Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary The Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the City of Arcata’s innovative wastewater treatment facility. The dog-friendly sanctuary is 307 acres, including freshwater marshes, salt marsh, tidal sloughs, grassy uplands, mudflats, brackish marsh, approximately 5 miles of walking and biking paths and an Interpretive Center. By integrating conventional wastewater treatment with the natural processes of constructed wetlands, Arcata has succeeded in turning wastewater into a resource. Dogs must be leashed. See Details
