Toro Park is Salinas' top location for horseback riding, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. 20+ miles of trails over 4756 acres. Over 100 geocache sites are located at Toro Park. It is also a popular spot for birding, and is a stop on the Central Coast Birding Trail. Park for free just outside the main gate or inside for a per vehicle fee.
Pet Friendly Garland Ranch Regional Park
Garland Ranch Regional Park is a gorgeous park with the Carmel River running through it. Dogs are allowed off-leash in certain areas, including in the river and on selected trails (not the horse trails). Atop the northern crest of the Santa Lucia Mountains, the trails encounter open oak savannas and spectacular vistas. Along the way, you will travel through maple-filled canyons, dense oak woodlands, and thick stands of chaparral.
Pet Friendly Mission Trail Park
Mission Trail Park offers 35 acres of trails in southeast Carmel. If you enter the trail system via Mountain View Avenue (where it turns into Forest Road), you can take a nice little walk down to the Carmel Mission Basilica. You can also enter the park from Rio Road, across from the mission.
