Next to the Falls, a 224-step stairway leads to a system of trails that will take you onto Inspiration Point with a breath-taking view of Colorado Springs and the great plains beyond. Wildlife is everywhere, including hummingbirds, rainbow trout and the rare, waterfall nesting- American Dipper. Leashed pups are welcome on most trails, and the Upper and Lower Dog Loops are designated as off-leash areas (but pease be advised that this is an unfenced space). In the winter, many of the trails make for good cross-country skiing.

This pet-friendly trail, exclusively for hikers and horsemen, leads to the Crags and is a true mountain adventure. The ground is padded with evergreen needles and is easy on Fido's paws. Gold Camp Road
Gold Camp Road follows the former railroad from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek called the "Short Line". In the 1920s the railroad has been converted to a car toll road, eventually becoming a free public road. In 1988 tunnel #3 collapsed and was never repaired. Because of this, the road is now closed to vehicular traffic and is popular with bikers and hikers. Bring Fido on this dog-friendly hike that is 8.6 miles one way.
