California Citrus State Historic Park Spanning over 400 acres of southern California, the dog-friendly California Citrus State Historic Park in Riverside is a throwback to the early 1900s, a time when citrus fruits were being touted as the second gold rush of the state. The California Citrus State Historic Park has lots of demonstration groves and picnic areas among the trees. Terri Peak Trail Terri Peak Trail is a moderately easy, 2.8-mile hike in Perris, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within Lake Perris State Recreation Area and will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. The well-marked trail is a great way to train for higher-altitude hikes. It has some very steep sections where you will gain a lot of elevation and is a great workout, and is accessible year-round. Dogs are able to use this trail but must be kept on a leash. Lake Perris State Recreation Area charges a fee to enter. Fees are per vehicle. If you are entering on foot or bike there is no fee. Monserate Mountain Preserve Monserate Mountain Preserve in Fallbrook, CA, has a dog-friendly trail featuring a 1.5-mile climb to the summit for panoramic views of the ocean and mountains. Be sure to bring water for both you and Fido. Please note that it is too hot in the summer to bring a dog along. The trailhead is just east of I-15 at the Stewart Canyons and Pankey Road intersection. Leashed dogs are welcome on many of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy Preserves. See Details
