Mardi Gras 2020 kicked off in style with the Mystic Krewe of Barkus Parade in New Orleans. This year’s theme was “Bark to the Future,” and furry participants dressed the part with plenty of 1980’s attire and even a “DogLorean.” Every year, festive humans and hounds celebrate Fat Tuesday with decorated floats and spectacular getups. Here’s a look at some of our favorite Mardi Gras dogs of 2020.
Some showed up ready to work out in leg warmers and sweatbands.
Others pulled out their floofiest ...
… And fanciest dresses.
Of course, some pups just came to collect beads and bones.
Blanche Dogereaux wore her beads proudly.
Judging by her dog costume, this little lady came for a good time.
There were a few heroes in the crowd.
And some grouchy (but still cute) characters as well.
There were many recognizable faces, like ET and Elliot ...
Doctor Who …
Marty McFly in the DeLorean ...
… And everyone’s favorite dog-like dragon, Falkor.
The music scene was well represented by this year’s Mardi Gras dogs.
“Muttallica” played “Master of Puppies.”
Gloria howled out “Get on Your Paws.”
And Puppy Lauper danced “Time After Time.”
At the end of the day, everyone felt like royalty.
