Tug Dog's Trainer's Program

Ever dreamed of working with dogs for a living as a professional dog trainer? This part time trainer's course allows you to learn the fundamentals of both obedience dog training and behavior modification so that you can be successful in all your canine related endeavours. During the program you will explore how dogs learn, develop good training and handling habits, learn about the different types of training and when to use specific methods, and much more. The curricula for the program is broken into the following two modules: Module One: During the first 4 weeks of the program, students will be learning about obedience training methods with a combination of classroom time, shadowing, and hands on training practice. From the basics of commands like sit, down, stay, and come to competitive obedience, puppy kindergarten, clarity promoting exercises, service and therapy dogs, the core fundamentals of dog training, equipment, off leash training, and more. Students will learn about the core rules of dog training and will also get insight into the actual day to day practices of being a successful dog trainer including helping clients, creating training programs, and the business of dog training. Module Two: The last 4 weeks of the course will be focused on behavior modification for dogs with fear, aggression, or anxiety issues. Topics will include safety, canine psyhcology and pack dyanmics, tempermant testing, working with shelter/rescue dogs, breed dynamics, and a step by step training protocol to evaluate and rehabilitate dogs with behavioral issues ranging from mild to severe. Pariticpants will get actual practice with dogs in training for behavior rehabilitation.
