    Blue Ridge Freedom 5K Leashed dogs, walkers and runners are welcome to this fundraising race in the heart of downtown Blue Ridge. Sip and Play will have a doggie water station to keep furry runners hydrated and cool, and will be selling mimosas and bloody Marys to enjoy after the race. Angry Hops will also be open after the race. The most spirited runner awards will be given to the most creative red, white and blue dressed runners. Awards will be given for 1st through 3rd for overall male and female, masters male and female, and age groups in five year increments. Dogs welcome at the back of the pack and not in the registration/packet pickup line on race day. See Details

    The Great Ape Escape 5K-ish Leashed dogs are welcome at this unique, untimed fun run taking place at the Project Chimps sanctuary! Participants will walk, jog or run along the scenic, hilly course that winds through the 230-acre property, offering glimpses of retired research chimpanzees in their forested habitats. This event provides a rare opportunity to visit the sanctuary, which is not typically open to the public, while supporting the care of over 80 rescued chimps. Along the way, attendees can enjoy interactive educational stations, learn about chimp conservation, and take part in fun, family-friendly activities. The race is designed to be inclusive for all fitness levels, with no pressure to complete it within a set time.
