The first floor room was den-like and the AC was loud white noise, so the dog could stay in the room when we went to the beach with the widow drapes closed and she would not be bothered by people walking by. However, the room itself was on the older, well used side with a very small bathroom. The interaction with the desk person was through a computer, and I felt the price was very high for the room we actually received. However, it was clean, no smells, I was able to leave my big dog alone when we needed to, and walk onto the beach with her when we wanted to (loved spending time on the beach with her!). So all went well. If the price was motel price, I would have given it more bones, but I expected a nicer room for the amount that I paid.

I wanted to like this old style hotel. But while it was right on the beach, we were put in a small basement room that had a pervasive musty order. We checked in via kiosk and no information regarding our pet was offered or posted (i.e. where the relief area was or what the beach policy was). I couldn’t locate a relief area, only a dog waste/bag receptacle near the office and this was surrounded by pavement. Although I love the area and will be back, we’ll look for other lodging.

It was no where near as advertised. AC was broken, unable to park near room, very sandy floors, terrible coffee. I could go on, but I’ll never stay there again.

Great location right on the ocean and next to Nags Head Pier! Although it is an older motel it has updates and was very clean. Very friendly staff. Well behaved dogs can be left in rooms while you are out. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
