      Durango

      The best dog park in the southwest is a block down the road. I would drive here from Texas just for the dog park. Don’t just use the grassy area at the hotel. The hotel’s proximity to the off leash dog park is the reason you wanna stay here. The rates are perfect and just bring a dog bed if you are concerned about the furniture policy. Although if you are in Durango there’s no reason you should be in your room unless you are sleeping. The river and the mountains are the destination.

      Stay Away

      1 bone because room was clean and fridge was cold. Other than that: Dogs not allowed on bed or furniture, vending machine broken, soda machine broken, ice machine broken, no breakfast offerings, water pressure so low it took 10 seconds to fill up a cup of water, bath towels had holes in them. Permanent residents living on property that manager seemed to be afraid of. Do not stay here. There are other affordable places in town.

      Not a great choice

      This motel did have a small grassy area but this area was also the kids play area and the family picnic area. Not exactly where you want your dog relieving himself. This grassy area was right next to the busy highway and you had to walk right along the highway to try and find a different spot for my dog. Loose dogs running around and were not leashed until I complained to the manager. In the room, there was no smoke alarm (not sure that is even legal) and there was only a button lock on the doorknob to the room. No deadbolt. No safety chain. I slept with a chair wedged under the doorknob. Would not stay here again.

      Not Worth the Cost

      Our room was dirty; trash under the bed and spider webs in the corners. Door lock didn’t work well. Only good thing was the hotel’s proximity to the Durango Dog Park. Won’t be staying here again.
