The sole purpose of our trip was to introduce our puppy to road trips. We stayed one night at the Oxbow in a king flat room. Staff was friendly and room was fine. We liked having a record player and a library of records to check out. Wisconsin has different rules, so dogs are not permitted anywhere food is served or prepared. So, we were not able to eat at the restaurant or sit in the bar. We could hang in the lobby, and we did order drinks to bring up to our room. Main desk woman was friendly, and gave our pup some treats. It is in a good location, close to Phoenix Park and downtown Eau Claire.

The guy at the front desk was super snobby and unfriendly about the fact that we had our dog with us (a tiny yorkie) -- and we had reserved a dog-friendly room via BringFido. He told us no less than 3 times that dogs weren't allowed in the patio or other eating areas (yes! we got it! no need to snarkily tell us this 3 times while we were checking in) and his overall demeanor was cold and not welcoming. One of the first rules of hotel hospitality is to greet your guests with a smile and make them feel welcome and happy to be joining you for an evening or whatever - this guy acted like everything including us was beneath him. Even outside of the dog stuff, he went over all of the hotel rules but said little or nothing about what the hotel offered. We got such a lousy feeling from this person. The hotel itself has a cool design and the motel rooms were clean and nice.
