    Always a pleasure!

This is my favorite hotel in Madison. The staff at the hotel are consummate professionals and go out of their way to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one. The rooms that we've stayed in are spacious, which certainly helps when you bring a puppy dog with you. The location of the Edgewater is fantastic: immediately next to the university campus, the state Capitol building, and within a few minutes' walk of much of what Madison has to offer. The fact that it sits on the lake side is an added treat.

    Very Dog Friendly

I would have given this place five bones, but it was very old. Clearly, the Edgewater was the place to stay in its heyday (40's-60's), and it is on the water, which was beautiful. It has been renovated, but it feels like an old place that was redone as inexpensively as possible. They suite had two bathrooms, which was nice, and the bedroom was a separate room completely. It felt a little like an apartment. The bathrooms appear to be original tiling and tubs, which wasn't a good thing. The elevator still has the original push buttons, which was neat. There is no pool, which was a bummer for my kids. HOWEVER, my dog a was treated like a KING. The staff knew his name and took time to pet him every time we came down. The Edgewater is located at the end of the fraternity/sorority section of UW, so that may be something to consider. However, school was out when we were there, so it was not an issue.
