‘St. Michaels Blue’

This photo was taken at Muskrat Park in St. Michaels, MD. The replica cannons at Muskrat Park were given by the National Park Service to replace the originals. The originals are believed to be at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD. The originals were confiscated by Federal troops from the arsenal in Easton, MD at the beginning of ‘the war of the states’. These replica cannons are fired on special occasions by the present day ‘St. Michaels Blue’ a volunteer group named after the town militia during the War of 1812. The cannons were dedicated in 1975.
