    DO NOT USE

BUYER BEWARE! We used Doggie Daytrippers since 2011 but will never use them again. They charged us for services that we never received and then never refunded our money despite repeated attempts to contact them. I did get an email once saying they made a mistake in charging me, but never received a refund for it. You will hear back from them quickly if you are asking for services, but it’s interesting how you don’t hear from them at all when they owe you money. You can read this website for many horror stories of how this company treats their customers (both human and canine) and we certainly fall in that category too. There are so many dog walking/boarding companies in Boston that you’re better off using one that is ethical and competent. Doggie Daytrippers is neither.

    Avoid

Avoid. I am familiar with a MSPCA investigation into this company where a dog died while in their care because it was left in an car, no ac, on a very hot day for an extended period of time. While I live and work very close to this business, I wouldn't take the chance of this happening to my little guys and so I board my dogs elsewhere.

    Peace of MInd and Grateful

I read through the reviews on here, and am sorry for all the owners of the dogs, but it also compelled me to write a review. I have used DDT for over three years for my two older pugs. They started out with walks but have since been doing the daycare five days a week. I figure that with that long a period of time, and hundreds of pick-ups and drop offs, I can speak to how this company runs and have been very pleased and quite frankly--they are the reason my pups are as happy and healthy as they are. With my work schedule I wouldn't be able to have my dogs without the help DDT provides.

I have had a few mishaps, sure (I was along the same route the day Tony dropped the keys down the drain as described by a previous reviewer--they were extremely apologetic to me, though I get that wasn't exactly the best first impression), but other than that day Tony was always wonderful with my pups and very courteous. Perhaps 2-3 other times there was an issue with keys or lock outs, but my dogs were always safe and sound. I am wiling to accept 3 key problems over a three year period of time--I get that stuff happens. Karen and the walkers were always very apologetic and genuinely felt bad. Once I locked myself out and they came to my rescue for which I was grateful.

Karen, the owner, has also been very good to deal with. My phone calls and emails have always been returned quickly (even late at night) and they deal with my sometimes unpredictable and last minute cancellations without an issue. She has never, on dozens and dozens of interactions, ever been anything but accomodating, courteous and professional. There have even been a few instances where I had to work very late on call, and she even watched them at her home overnight for me. On the day of the Marathon bombings I was worried about my dogs and called them, she reassured me that everyone was ok and texted me when my boys were home safe as I was busy at the hospital that night--she didn't have to do that, and it meant a lot to me on a very stressful day.

Overall, especially for the price, I am beyond pleased with my interactions with DDT. I am someone who loves my dogs like my family and worry about them when they aren't around. I think people tend to only write reviews when they are unhappy, and I feel like this company does a good job and should get credit! I am extremely grateful for their years of care, I recommend them and I hope that people looking for a good company to care for their furry friends consider DDT as they have been wonderful with my pups.

    Dog Death Not True

A dog did not die in their care. The post below was written by a disgruntled employee who said to me he was going to ruin their reputation. I know this first hand. I have been using Doggie Daytrippers for about 6 months. I choose to use them because I had worked for them for two years. I know first hand how the business is run. I know how much the owner Karen cares for the dogs. I loved working there. I had amazing training and was mentored constantly as to how to provide the best dog care. The ex employee who has been spreading the rumor about a dog dying was just angry because he was fired. And if he had been my employee I would have fired him too. I decided to leave the dog walking world and enter corporate america. I choose Doggie Daytrippers because I know the excellent care myself and the other staff members provided for the dogs. I also know how strict the owner is in her hiring practices. Because of this I trust them implicitly. I have had the best experience as a customer. My dog is happy and tired when i get home from work. If i could give more than 5 bones I would.

    Happy Healthy Dog!!

I have used a lot of dog walking services in the Boston area since we got our lab three years ago and Doggie Day Trippers by far offers the best services and prices of all the companies we have tried. Unlike many of the other services we have used, they are 100% reliable and ALWAYS show up when they say they are going to. We typically use their 45 minute romp service where they pick up our dog, drive her to a safe location and let the dogs off leash to run and play for about 45 minutes. Given travel time, it ends being a few hour long excursion and we know our dog is playing and having fun the entire time. She always comes home happy and tired, which is a nice treat for us as well! We have met the owner and two of the walkers and they are all wonderful and clearly have a passion for animals. I have been home a few times when they have picked up our dog and to see how excited she is to see them makes me feel very confident that they take good care of her! The walkers always leave notes about pick up and drop off time and fill us on what they did that day, which is greatly appreciated. I could not be happier with this company and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for someone trustworthy to care for their pet!

    Dog Death

On July 18, 2012 our beloved French Bulldog overheated in a minivan driven by a Doggie Daytrippers staff member. On July 19, 2012 Kenseth died from injuries suffered as a result from overheating while in the care of Doggie Daytrippers. Before signing on to use Doggie Daytrippers services we asked the owner Karen Nash to come to our house for an interview. During this interview we asked two very specific questions. First, does your staff receive training on Frenchies and know how to deal with their breathing issues. Second, if anything happens to Kenseth while in your care will you cover the vet bill. Karen Nash answered yes to both. You can imagine our surprise when we met the office manager at Angell Hospital and found our dog unresponsive because Kenseth's temperature exceeded 108 degrees. As the severity of the situation was becoming apparent we were told Karen Nash was not going to cover the expenses related to our dog's care. Through an investigation by the MSPCA Police it has come to light the only training Karen's staff receives is a pamphlet which sits on the desk at the main office. We learned there were nine other dogs in the van and our Kenseth was put in the back farthest from the air conditioning. In addition, the driver of the van had been on the job only three days. It is important to point out that Karen Nash was unwilling to do an internal investigation to determine how our dog lost her life. Karen Nash was less than cooperative with the MSPCA Polices repeated requests to discuss the chain of events until the Police arrived at her place of business. As if losing our four year old healthy pet and family member was not bad enough we have had to deal with the complete lack of compassion by Karen Nash. Karen was notified of what happened to Kenseth before the staff brought our dog to Angell. During our time at Angell, Karen would not speak to us and still has not acknowledged the passing of our dog. We have obtained a lawyer in an attempt to get answers to open questions concerning the incident. Our lawyers sent a letter to Karen Nash on August 31, 2012 via certified mail which she has refused to sign for not once but five times, along with messages left for her. As dog owners/lovers we felt it was not only important but our responsibility to ensure Kenseth received good and loving care while we were at work. We paid Doggie Daytrippers and Karen Nash to provide these services and they did not fulfill their agreement.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

They left my friends dog in their van for 40 minutes in the extreme heat this week and she died yesterday.

    Horribly Rude and Unprofessional

Do not use this company. It's not the walkers - it's the owner. She will be pleasant as punch until you have a complaint. She is by far the most unprofessional person I have ever done business with.

    Very bad....

Karen the owner is totally rude and never gets back with you. She has her walkers seriously overbooked so they show up late or not at all. She is a bad manager and seems to care about how much $$ she will make and not the dogs. Don't even think about it - they are awful.

    They are the worst!

Do not use DDT - the walkers did not show up, my dog with separation anxiety was left alone...in her own urine...for hours. We gave the owner 3 chances to fix it. She took no responsibility, refused to credit us the full amount we were owed and she is completely disorganized. There is no way she should be in the dog care business - she has her walkers stretched too thin and i see terrible reviews about her behavior everywhere. Don't do it....they are TERRIBLE.

    Horrendous!!

They lost my dog, took no responsibility for it and the walker later fessed up that she lost my dog the day prior but someone driving down the road picked her up and delivered her back to them. Within that week they lost 2 other dogs as well and those are just the ones I know about. I have been to the Fells and have seen these off leash companies in action. It is not unusual to see one walker with 15 dogs or so. I would never use these guys ever again and was literally revolted by Karen. She at one point said she "I don't give a sh*t about your dog" while she was missing. Oh and in the interview she told me she had never lost a dog. After my dog went missing I talked to a handful of people who claimed the same, that DDT lost their dog as well.
