Reviews
Visitors praise Jake's on Devine as a highly dog-friendly restaurant with a fun, off-leash dog park area, attentive staff, and a great beer selection. Some guests, however, note that the off-leash policy may not suit all dogs, especially during crowded times.

If you don't like dogs, go somewhere else. If you love dogs, this is your spot. Traveling through from Kansas, needed a place for 100+ pound dog to run off some energy. This place was perfect! Rooster met many new friends both canine and human. John, the 'bark ranger' was very attentive, knew most of the dogs by name and was great at helping to maintain order. The world needs more "Jake's.". Will definitely visit again when in Columbia.
- CasJul 24, 2023Great spot!
This is a great place to spend time with friends and dogs. Drinks are good and fairly cheap, and they have a guy there during Yappy Hour specifically to monitor the dogs. Another dog was stalking Mako and the guy took care of it right away. We had a great time!
- NancyJul 9, 2023It’s all about the dogs, I mean the beer, I mean both!
we are traveling from RI to FL. each day stopping somewhere for an afternoon break for us and for Maui. Jakes was just a 20 minute detour but totally made the rest of the days travel bearable for all of us. I wish I lived closer. We all had a fantastic time. Dog owners were very conscientious and the place was so cool! Go, with or without a dog! Great staff! They did have food but we did not order anything. Beer was awesome!

This is not a dog friendly place. This is a dog bar serving great food and libations. We thought about staying in Columbia for the night rather than just passing though because of this place. Just go already!!

We were told about Jake's three months ago, and have been going at least once a week since. What a fun place for the dogs and owners!!! Plenty of water bowls, a good selection of beers, the food is good, and everyone is smiling... All I have to say is "Jake's" , and my dog is ready to go! and so are we! Check their web site, you must register your dog first. Highly Recommended!!!

I was blown away at the rear dog park that is an outdoor bar where you can order the most interesting menu. They have a dog whisperer on staff and cater to your dog off leash. More bar than restaurant, but the food is very good. Apply online with a 5 buck registration fee to cover their insurance and your in for a treat. Gets real busy after 8.
- PamelaOct 25, 2021Great place for good dogs
Pleasant place w/ a great crew of dogs. Drinks (deft bartender) & snacks available for human con. Please note: re some complaints posted earlier. If you are uncomfortable w/ either your or other dogs off-leash then this is not the place for you. Otherwise? Expect your dog to have a great time. You as well. Five paws up.
- MarissaMay 30, 2021Fun dog park that serves beer & food
We had a blast at Jake’s! Think of it as an off leash dog park that sells beer and food. There are always going to be owners who don’t pay enough attention to their dogs and behaviors at a dog park. But if you have a dog with good recall they will have a blast. Good beer selection and pub food. Also love that they have staff who watches for dog fights and follows through when a dog has to be leashed or leave. Great spot!

Just here from Michigan visiting . And it’s awesome you can let your dog roam on the patio area. My dog Duke loved playing with all the other dogs there. Very Cool and Unique establishments 👍👍👍

- Local fanMore than a year agoGreat for dogs and their owners
I think Jake's is a great place to bring your dog. I’ve been coming here for years now and have never had any issue here. It’s like a dog park with beer for humans! Most of the dogs run around outside off-leash and play. They have water bowls and pooper-scoopers and in the summer, kiddie pools for the dogs to cool off in. In the last couple months they've redone the outside with 2 outdoor bars, fake grass where the gravel used to be, and a vintage mini VW van that's been turned into a tiny bar looking thing. Dogs are no longer allowed inside which I think makes it easier to keep an eye on your dog and keeps the inside more sanitary. Some people are worried about dogs being off-leash but if you are a responsible dog-owner you will keep an eye on your dog or just leave it on leash. Very fun place for dogs and humans, especially with deals like yappy hour and pint night. 10/10 recommend

This place is fantastic if you want to enjoy having a beer with your best friend. This is a great way to socialize if you are new to the area and a great way for your pup to socialize too. There is a dog trainer that is always there to break up dog fights, and he is fantastic with the dogs. Some people need to lighten up with their reviews, it's basically a dog park! The outside is completely fenced in and really safe for a dog to roam around. During the hot months, they put out a small kiddie pool for the pups. I love this place.

Yappy Hour is a great place to let dogs run around and socialize with other dogs. There is a man who breaks up dogs humping and fights. It's no different than a dog park! My dog looks forward to yappy hour every week!
- NickMore than a year agoDisgusting
There's a difference between, "Pet Friendly" and "Pet Friendly but we don't care about our establishment". By far the most disgusting place I have ever gone to. Dogs running around almost all not on leashes, on the tables, pissing and humping everywhere while their owners (all in their late 20's?) not caring about the safety for the health of the animals. So, while you get completely trashed here you can let your dog roam free and not care about what other dogs have or if someone steals your dog since the owners are all neglectful. DHEC needs to come in on this place on a Thursday night.
- R.J.More than a year agoOut of control
The title sums it up. We went to this place on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm and we could not believe what was going on in this place. We read the reviews of how dog friendly and were ready to eat and socialize with a few dog lovers. The best way to describe what we saw is this: Picture a frat house with everyone owing a dog. That frat decides to throw a party and just let the dogs roam the house while everyone is drinking. The dogs were not only on the patio but also roaming inside everywhere. Only about 6 dogs were on leash while the other (no lie) 50 dogs ran all over without their owners watching. They wandered freely from the patio to inside, sitting in chairs on table tops and hardly an owner paying attention to where their dog was (inside, outside, table tops). You can imagine without watching owners the messes. Someone could easily take a dog or I could imagine a small fight escalating into much more with that many dogs not being watched. We were in and out of this place in minutes and never will return. Seems like I was the oldest person there at 50. Appeared almost everyone was in early 30's and younger.

I should also mention that leashed dogs are always welcome throughout the week at Jake's, on their patio area.
- KristenMore than a year agoAwesome Yappy Hour & Patio!
Jake's "Yappy Hour" is a fantastic place for dogs - held every Tuesday - Thursday evening, dogs are welcome to run around off-leash in the patio area. It gets a little crowded when the weather is nice, so I'd avoid taking overly-sensitive or possibly aggressive dogs. I've been taking my dog for over a year (almost his whole life!) and he absolutely loves Jake's! The staff is great - they watch the dogs for signs of potential doggie disagreements, they clean up after them if needed, and they're extremely friendly. There is always water available, and even a kiddie pool in the summer months!
