    Great food

This place is couple blocks from the Eola park. Very good food. Staff was friendly to the dog and brought him water twice and cuddle with him. I had Tuesday tacos, lots of to choose from.

    Great Food & Service

I was recently in Orlando while my husband attended a conference. I had my Golden Retriever, Pineapple, with me, so I was looking for dog-friendly restaurants. A friend had recommended Dexter's for their food and I had read that their patio was dog friendly. I arrived around 8am on a Friday morning, and their patio was not yet set up for the day. Since I had my puppy with me, I called inside to see if I could get an outside table. The gentleman that answered the phone was very friendly and said they would be right out. In just a minute, a very nice gentleman came out and prepared a table for me and brought a big container of water out for my puppy. He set up the rest of the outside seating and even put up an umbrella so we would have some shade. The waitress came out in a few minutes and immediately brought my drink. I ordered the plantation breakfast plate as it looked like plenty for me and my puppy. For $9, it included 2 eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, potato cakes, a biscuit with homemade jam, and I subbed the cheese grits for the 2 pancakes that normally come with it. It was a ton of food for a very reasonable price and everything was excellent. The eggs were cooked just the way I liked them and the ham was fine. The potato cakes were interesting - instead of homefries or hashbrowns they were little fried potato patties served with sour cream and they were cooked perfectly. The biscuit was great and the jam was out-of-this world and I don't normally even like jams or jellies. I'm from the South so I feel like I know about biscuits and southern breakfast and this definitely fit the bill. Pineapple ate the sausage, bacon, and part of my potato cakes and she was definitely happy as well! The waitress was very attentive even though I was the only one outside, and she refilled both mine and my dog's water for us. It was a very positive experience for both me and my dog. The restaurant is located on a quiet side street that doesn't have a lot of traffic so that was nice. Since it was early morning, there were some delivery trucks in the area so there was some noise, but not to the point of detracting from the meal. I was really impressed that they sat up the outside seating for us and were so welcoming. I feel like sometimes restaurants that are "dog-friendly" really aren't that excited or welcoming to pets, but Dexter's truly made me feel comfortable and fine to be dining alone with my dog. I also like the fact that they have a full breakfast/brunch menu every day of the week instead of just Saturday & Sunday. My husband and I tried another brunch restaurant in the area on Sunday and were really disappointed and totally wished we had come back to Dexter's! Next time we are in the Orlando area we will definitely be coming back!

    A great find!

We chose Dexter's in Thornton Park (Orlando) because it was pet friendly...we met family members who traveled west while we traveled east to meet in the Orlando area. The Thornton Park neighborhood is absolutely charming....brick paved streets, Craftsman cottages, shade trees....and Dexter's is located in a former Publix grocery store building (a very small one by today's standards). Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating along the street, but it is a quiet area so the street noise is not intrusive. Service is very friendly and efficient. The food (we were there for lunch) is a very good value and very good eating too. We highly recommend the place and are eager to "pass the word" on Dexter's.
