Excellent food and nice patio
Howard's RestaurantWe were trying to find a place to eat that we could take our dog, and we stumbled upon Howard's. What a find! I had the BEST burger that I've had in a really long time. The Mac-n-cheese was delicious and creamy. Fries were good too. Staff and ambiance was inviting. A little bit of a wait but more of a relaxed feel vs. slow. Server was attentive and pleasant. The patio was right by a creek and they had fans and heaters to accommodate hot or colder weather. Lots of different ages and families dining there. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Awesome food and shaded area for pup
The Patio BistroOutside shaded patio in quiet area! you can take pup in to order! Food is excellent. Great selection for gluten and vegan folks and the desserts looked incredible. I tried the coconut cake and it was worth every bite!

Great food and place to stop for Fido
Maggie Valley Sandwich ShopThis place is the bomb! It has outdoor dining, so if you have your furry friend with you, you can still enjoy. All kinds of sandwiches, hot or cold, lots of choices. Gluten free bread available and vegetarian options. Staff was friendly, fast and accommodating. Place was very clean. They have incredible banana pudding and say it's world, famous, and I will not challenge that claim as it was wonderful!

Nice patio area dive bar vibe
Charlie Brown's Restaurant and LoungeInside is a dark dive bar but covered porch in back is nice. Food was good and staff was friendly and accommodating. Just a short walk is a pet wash and store that has grass and place to safely stretch legs.

Beach Community that Welcomes Dogs!
Hancock County BeachesThis community is dog friendly. From restaurants to its beaches. We took our pug Bella and grand-dog lab mix Rory for a two week vacation in late May/early June. It gets really hot from mid-day but great for morning and late afternoon, evening playtime. We mainly visited the Waveland area beaches. The water was pretty shallow but did have pockets during the morning where Rory could swim and Bella watched safely from the beach. There is some grassy areas that you need to be mindful of nesting birds. There is a leash law in the area and dogs are supposed to be on leashes. There was a community pier, building that has restrooms and water. There are doggy poop bag stations and trash cans along the sidewalk that runs along the beach the entire expanse of beaches which is super nice.

Shaded right off highway
Freedom Run Dog ParkGreat park! shaded and mulch in areas without grass. Port-A-potty for humans too. GPS takes you too far. Take first left off McGowen across wooden bridge. Bring own water. Small dog area is good size too.

Plenty of shaded seating area with fans and GREAT FOOD
Mockingbird Cafeoffers plenty of outdoor, shaded seating. Staff is very nice and accommodating. The food is delicious! Definately a breakfast, brunch place as it closes at 2:00 every day - our only complaint .... the coffee is really good and they have lots of different latte options. They also have cocktails and beer (domestic and IPAs). There is grassy places you can walk to, if needed.

Good food and dog friendly
The Blind TigerPlenty of picnic tables with umbrellas and water bowls for dogs. Seating area faces the marina and boats which makes for a nice view. Grassy areas right next to restraunt. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Food is good too! We enjoyed the royal red shrimp boat with potatoes and corn along with the loaded fries and red fish sandwich - all were very good. No salads or gluten free items.

Small but safe and quiet
Waveland Bark ParkGreat little dog public dog park. It is a small park but lots of agility equipment and plenty of room to run around and stretch out legs. Adjacent to a kids playground with a splash pad. Was stocked with plenty of poop bags and trash cans and was clean with grass and a tall fenced in area.

Gem right off 59 with potty place
Shrimp Basketgreat place for humans to eat and perfect for traveling with pups. porch with cover to eat outside. Grassy dog walk right behind restaurant. the dog walk is part of hotel but convenient and open. didn’t have to move car.
