Scary Drive
Whitney Portal Picnic AreaWe came on a Sunday morning. The road is along the side of the mountain and is steep at times. Once you get to the portal picnic area it's beautiful. Keep your dog on a leash. Enjoy the running water and the huge waterfall.
Nice Dogs Welcome Inside
Museum of Western Film HistoryWe brought our two standard poodles in and they were welcomed with treats. We were able to tour the whole museum and we were able to go into the theater to watch the 15-minute documentary they showed.
Educational and Dog Friendly
Sierra Nevada Logging MuseumMy husband, two Standard Poodles and I went to this museum. It's both indoor and outdoor and its free. When we arrived the man told us our dogs can come in if they are behaved. We all walked around, looked at the exhibits, watched the animated ones and then headed outside to see the big stuff. Our dogs had a great time and we learned so much about logging during the Gold Rush. If you're traveling with your pooch. Don't skip this one!
Canine Family Fun
Visalia Rawhide Baseball ClubMy husband and two Standard Poodles came to this ball park specifically because they love dogs. We were on a vacation in our travel trailer and stopped by. We sat in the "Pasture," which is a large grassy area with picnic tables and a dedicated "off leash" section. The staff are so friendly and accommodating when you have your dogs with you. It was great fun. The cost was $10 a ticket and dogs are free. If you're ever in the area. You should go!
Dogs on Patio
Lodi Beer CoWe came here around noon on a Monday. Patio allows dogs. Its one row of tables for three, along a short, iron fence. They have umbrellas out there but a couple more would be nice. Since there was only two of us, our dogs could squeeze under the table.
This place is real neat inside. I wish we could have sat inside instead of patio. They have a small beer selection but they do make their own.
Dog Friendly Patio
Midgley's Public HouseWe came here around 2pm on a Monday. They allowed dogs on the patio. It's a small patio but tables are spaced out. This is a restaurant in the middle of an outdoor shopping center. Im sure its cool at night. There is a short fence separating the patio seating from the walkway of shopping center.
This place is expensive. My husband and I split a grilled Caesar salad and tri tip sliders. They were both good.
Dog Friendly Adventure
Arcata Community ForestI came here with my husband and two standard poodles, around 8am in June. Limited parking. Lots of walking. Once you go in, you are in another world. It's really an amazing feeling. One minute you are standing on the street and the next you are in the forest. Everything is green and covered with moss. We kept our dogs on leash. They were totally into the experience. We only ran into one other couple.
Big Space
Moonstone Beach County ParkMy husband and I came here with our two standard poodles. Huge beach and approx. 50 people walking around. Several had dogs. Some on leash, some off leash. The off leash dogs were behaved. One pit bull got loose from her owner and attacked a white lab who was playing catch with his owner. Everyone was ok. Otherwise, it was a very nice outing. Sun was out but temp was about 60 in June. Sand was wet so easy to walk on.
