NICE GETAWAY WITH OUR GIRL!

The Essex Resort & Spa

Beautiful grounds and amenities at this resort that is also known for its culinary cooking classes. Make sure you reserve a spot in these classes well in advance as they usually are sold out. Also suggested to make reservations at both restaurants on the premises. We were hoping to be able to take part in some activities (visit the spa, swim in one or both of their pools or have dinner at The Junction Restaurant but unfortunately the resort didn’t have any pet sitting or dog walking services available as a reviewer on Bring Fido stated. The resort did say you could leave your pet in the room as long as they were well behaved and didn’t disturb the other guests. You could leave your cell number at the front desk and they would call you if they received any complaints of barking. Since this would have been her first time staying alone in an unfamiliar place we decided not to take the chance.

Our mistake for not checking first with the resort to confirm pet services were offered. The staff was very friendly to our fur child and during check-in we were handed a goody bag with treats and a toy for her, which was a nice touch! Our girl received lots of hellos and ear scratches from other guests too. The Essex does have tables on the patio at The Tavern, a pub style restaurant, so we had breakfast two mornings and dinner one night there with the pup. Kids will enjoy visiting the friendly goats on the resort and playing cornhole. They have live music and fire pits for the adults to enjoy as well. We will definitely return to the Essex but now we will plan to research local doggie day care so we have more time to enjoy what the resort has to offer!
