Wonderful Beach Hotel
Hampton Inn Suites GalvestonGreat staff and nice location within walking distance to the beach. Next to Walmart but still considered a quiet and safe location to stay. Elevators go to parking level with grass strips and several palm trees for the boys.
Nature in the city
Comanche Lookout ParkNice walk in a natural setting. The “easy” trails have elevation changes (~200 ft) but they are ADA compliant, 6-8 foot wide, concrete paved and use switchback to keep the grade impacts down. The tower was our destination and just beyond we found the lookout with views of San Antonio. We walked about 1.5 miles. There were many more gravel/dirt trails that covered the park but after this mornings rain we kept our shoes dry and clean by staying on the paved/concrete paths. Worth the walk in mild temperatures, not sure I would return on hot summer days.
Beautiful Walking Trail
San Antonio River WalkExcellent sidewalk for leash trained dogs. Even early in morning there were plenty of other walkers, joggers and other dogs. Nothing but 4 foot wide trail along the River but you can go 4-5 miles.
Squirrels!
Landa ParkOn a quiet Friday morning in December we visited and had a wonderful time. Most people attractions were not operating but the squirrels put on a great show for my bird dog!
Middle of the road experience
La Quinta by Wyndham San Antonio AirportWe stayed here for a total of 8 nights. It is under construction on all floors. Our room was recently upgraded but other rooms in the floor were still under construction. We had problems with fridge not cooling, lights in bathroom would flicker and turn off, shower was constantly dripping water and tv would turn itself off suddenly and the “tv guide” was incorrect so we had to guess what station/program we wanted to watch. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Hotel had roving security which I liked since emergency exit doors were not secure and often open with a stone so a key was not required for entry. Our dog loved the hotel cats that greeted everyone at the main entrance!
I’m headed back to stay again!
Hampton Inn & Suites North Houston SpringClose to everything. Great walking trail in the nearby neighborhood. Quiet, clean and safe location. Drawback was the toll roads were the fastest way to get around and they require toll tags and lots of extra money.
