FORGET THE REST STOPS; STOP HERE INSTEAD

Dog Park at Lewis Kingman Park

We make the drive from CA to AZ with our Border Collie a few times a year. Noticed on the Bring Fido website, Kingman has a dog park & so glad we took the time to get off the road & visit. This park is a hidden gem for travelers on old Route 66.

Green lawns with picnic benches all around, clean restrooms and clear signage for areas where dogs ARE and Are Not allowed. Our dog was able to run in a secured location for big dogs & happy to visit with little guys in the adjacent run for Small Dogs through the chain link fence. We humans were able to have a restful snack break & watch the trains go by … even a fun photo opp with Rte 66 background. We did not encounter issues similar to reviews from past years - just nice people. BRAVO to the City of Kingman for this terrific stopping place. I wish more towns would do this. Why go to a dried out Rest Stop along the freeway where the dog can’t really exercise when we can stop, pick up lunch and come here? We will be back!

Welcome Suprise

La Quinta by Wyndham Mesa Superstition Springs

Chose this place based on its location (convenient to personal business) and secure immediate neighborhood. It’s also right next to the freeway & as expected, they gave us a room facing it. That particular noise helped us sleep but beware; it’s not for everyone. We appreciated our room being located at the end of the building, convenient to stairway/elevator, parking & of course a small dog walking space (that is shared with smokers.) The room itself was clean, nicely laid out & our dog didn’t seem seem to pick up the scents of any previous accidents as he has on other occasions. The breakfast was a disappointment but overall staff very nice.

Got Lucky!

California Inn

A family emergency prompted a trip with our 10 month old Border Collie & our adult daughter recommended BringFido for dependable lodging. There was a large area on the backside of the property protected by a large concrete wall where he could be walked safely on leash away from traffic. We also liked the sliding glass door option in our lower floor room to get our bags in and out, plus avoiding the puppy excitement of running into another guest in the hallway. The place isn't fancy but the room clean, the staff very nice and we took turns for the complimentary breakfast so that the dog was never alone. We liked it enough that we stayed there again on our return home and if further travel needed along that route would book there again.
