Great location and room!
West Inn & SuitesThis hotel was just off the I-5 so very easy to get on and off to tour the Carlsbad area. Room was very large with the sitting area separate from the bedroom. Easy walk to the ocean, although pets are not allowed on the beach. Plenty of great views from sidewalk and lots of resting areas for humans and pets. Pet area was big enough for our dog to do his business. Great breakfast for humans.

Upgraded rooms
Poco Diablo ResortWe would recommend you upgrade your room from the standard/regular. Asked and was granted another room as the first one was so dark- zero natural light as the window faced a wall. New room was still in the regular section but at least sunlight hit the window. A lot of money for the room plus add-ons made this an expensive stay. Other dog owners did not pick up even though the property had bags and garbage container. This is not a reflection of Poco Diablo but clearly they didn’t monitor that area either. No breakfast and it took hours both days to get onto Wifi even though they charge $30 plus taxes as a resort fee to cover this. This section has connecting rooms but that just meant you heard every word the next room said and every dog bark. Place has lots of potential just don’t get a room in the 400-500 unit area.

Great location and staff
Granzella's InnAlthough we had the second floor room, it was easy to get to an exit door so our dog could get outside to do his business. Staff was excellent and restaurant food was outstanding!
