Freckles made me a dog person. She has changed my life and I hope to make hers as long and enjoyable as possible. We go out to tons of Nature preserves and I’m always happy to share the ups and downs of all of them!

My dog and I stopped by on the trip home from the beach and it was incredibly worthwhile! Since I had dog in-tow I sat on the patio and people watched so I can’t comment on the indoor dining, but outside was lovely. They even brought Freckles a water bowl, super thoughtful! The price is closer to $20-35 a person, but it is absolutely worth the cost. The pasta I got was just delicious. If we are ever back in the area it is a worthwhile stop!

I unfortunately don’t recommend visiting for a number of reasons… The walk down to the dog beach area is 0.25 miles through the woods over some hills on a sand-covered path. It’s a lovely walk but we went at opening (7am) and we were already being swarmed by mosquitos and as the sun rose, the more the walk smelled like pee. If you visit, be prepared to hike and be aware that this beach is not accessible to those with disabilities. At the end of the walk, there is a very steep set of stairs with a slick railing leading down to the beach. Keep in mind that these stairs do not have a gate. I will post photos of the trip shortly, but while the dog area is TECHNICALLY fenced in the fences are not maintained on the left, and do not reach the water on the other side so there is a 3-5 foot gap dogs can and do walk right through. There are some (very pretty, naturally occurring) sharp wooden logs that stick up out of the water and could and would be a safety risk if your dog tries to jump over them and doesn’t make it. I overestimated my dog’s recall in a new environment and let her off the leash once we were down on the beach. Once she decided she was done playing in the sand she tried to walk herself back down the trail to the car. Luckily I caught up to her, but do not go here unless your dog has a bullet-proof recall or you are positive you could catch them running across sand if they decide not to listen to you. In the walk back (~9am) the mosquitos were worse than the trip in and squirrels were throwing acorns down at the dog. While it was beautiful and free outside of parking, we will not be visiting again unless they fix the containment issue.

My family has recently started taking my dog (White Terrier X) and my sister’s dog (Tan Shepard X) here recently. The price of the yearly membership is well worth it from
Our experiences so far! All of the other owners and dogs we have come across have been wonderful and everyone seems to be a dog person. The park is well-maintained and even has a lake that opens in the hotter months for dogs to dive off of and swim. We have not seen any circulation for the lake so it’s possible that it gets fairly buggy in the summer, but so far the only complaint we’ve heard is that the park is muddy for a day or three after it rains. But to our household, mess just means that the dog has had a great time. We’ve only been attending for about a month but we are happy to recommend this to other owners!

I was dog sitting my sister’s Corgi/Shepherd puppy and went in with him and my own Chihuahua/Pit. The staff was amazing and patient with me as I settled my two vocal puppies and placed our orders. The food was to die for! I got the Crazy Curry Chicken Bowl on rice (YUM! I recommend it if you’re looking for a nice comforting kick of flavor.) While my friend who came with got the California Deluxe BLTA. The shakes are also a must-get! They even offer Chicken or Beef and Rice bowls for the pups. We will absolutely be back to try more items off the menu!!

My girl and I got there at the park’s opening time on a Saturday and it was BEAUTIFUL! There are so many trails and most people are very respectful of the park’s request to keep quiet so everyone can enjoy the natural ambiance. There are a few benches around to pause at to take breaks and they have interesting historical info signs. I will say the downsides to the trip was that the paths can be very narrow and there can be a LOT of other dogs. Most people I ran into had friendly dogs but there were two occasions where I turned the other way until I reached a more open space so the other owner could pass without risk of encounter due to the other dog’s body language. Additionally, I say it’s dog for active dogs and dogs with mid to long legs— there are tons of steep, tall stairs and there’s a portion of slick rock to reach one waterfall. Thankfully my girl is only 32 pounds so I could carry her when needed but I know other people aren’t so lucky with their seniors. Overall, with or without dog, I highly recommend visiting!
